Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life highlights a small community's main farm life activities. Players are responsible for growing crops, raising animals, and gathering resources to make a living in Forgotten Valley. A requirement for all of these features is having the proper tools to get the job done. Players will get many of their tools for free when they first start their playthrough outside of a few items.

However, the first tools they get are old hand-me-downs that use up much stamina and aren't as efficient. As the farm grows, it gets harder and harder to maintain quickly without exhausting players entirely at the beginning of the day. Players will need to upgrade their tools to maximize their profits in A Wonderful Life, and this guide has everything they need to learn how.

How to Upgrade Tools in SoS: A Wonderful Life

A Wonderful Life

At the beginning of the game, players will receive the following tools from Takakura:

  • Hoe - needed for tilling soil for crops
  • Sickle - needed to harvest Fodder or cut down withered crops
  • Watering Can - needed to water crops
  • Milker - needed to milk cows

This leaves them with three open tool slots holding a Brush, Clippers, and Fishing Rod. Eventually, Takakura will also gift players their first set of Clippers.

Unlike the other tools, players must purchase the Fishing Rod and Brush from Van, the traveling salesman, whenever he visits the town on the third and eighth of each season. They cost 500G a piece, but players can also sell their extra goods to Van if they are short on cash.

A Wonderful Life

After getting their first of each tool, players can upgrade them. Three tiers of upgrades are available, but players cannot skip to the final tier without buying the previous ones. The first is copper tools which can cover up to three tiles where applicable and uses less stamina.

These must also be purchased from Van, who will take the old tool in exchange for the new one and its cost. The upgrades get expensive, so players will want to make sure they are making enough money to get all of them.

A Wonderful Life

From there, they can buy the silver tools for 10,000G to charge up and cover six tiles and use even less stamina. Finally, the gold tools are 50,000G and follow the same pattern, which is the most efficient. Due to their cost and availability, players will get access to them as their farm grows.
