Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life follows a linear storyline as players run a farm, start a family, and grow old in a small town called Forgotten Valley. Of course, there are choices and customization options available that affect the overall experience. Players can add farm equipment, upgrade buildings, change the interior of their houses, and collect storytelling items.
While the farm's layout mostly stays the same, several ways exist to decorate the farm and the house. Some items are purely cosmetic, while others serve a greater purpose regarding gameplay. So, here's how Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life players can decorate the farm.
Purchase Decorations From Van
Van is a traveling salesman who visits Forgotten Valley to open a pop-up shop and sell his wares. He comes on the third and eighth of each season from 12:00-6:00 PM. His inventory includes farm tools, clothes, and decorations.
Players can get full interior sets for the inside of their farmhouse. These sets will change their rugs and tablecloths in every room. Van's inventory updates every season, and players can collect all the interior sets over time.
They can switch them out as they please at any time. Van will also sell players items like an old ornate vase and toys for their child. One of these toys is a unique teddy bear, but it is costly, so players will have to save up a lot of Gold for it.
Van will also buy goods from players if they have any animal products, forage, Dig Site artifacts, or fish they want to sell. Their value is the same as when selling items from the shipping bin, but Van will give players Gold right away rather than waiting till the next day.
Buy Farm Upgrades
The farm has a small Coop, a Barn, and two Crop Fields when players first move to Forgotten Valley. However, the farm Ledger has several upgrades and expansions available for order. There's even a pond that can be built if players want to attract ducks.
Many farm facilities either increase profits by transforming animal products or help lower the costs of certain things like crop seeds or fertilizer. There are designated spots for the pieces of equipment, and they make the farm look complete.
Players can also make their Coop and Barn double in size to get more animal products like milk and wool. Milk can be used to make Cheese and Butter if players have built the Processing Room. Players can order an upgrade or facility once a day. Takakura will start the construction and let players know when it's complete.
Complete Bulletin Board Requests
The large Bulletin Board in town will occasionally have green posters pinned to it. The signs contain village resident requests, which can be read by interacting with the Bulletin Board. These requests are for certain meals or other items players can collect around the valley.
In exchange for completing their request, the townsfolk will reward players. Some of these will be one-of-a-kind decorations or gifts for their child. For example, players can get a water bucket with beach toys and a toolbox that will be placed outside their farmhouse. Both of the items have adorable cutscenes featuring their child.
Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is now available for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
