Players can enter the dig site opening under the blue scaffolding near the tent at any time but must visit anytime between 10:00 am - 5:00 pm on any in-game day except for Van's market days. Enter the dig site during these hours and speak to Carter to begin digging or for instructions on what to do. Players should ensure they give themselves plenty of time to arrive earlier as Carter closes the site for the day at 5:00 pm.
How To Dig In Story Of Seasons: A Wonderful Life
In each of Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life's in-game years, the dig site expands with more items to discover, including rare archaeological stone tablets connected to Forgotten Valley's ancestry. To dig in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, speak with Carter when he's inside the dig site to obtain a trowel by selecting the dialogue option that says 'Let's get started.' To end a mining session, players can speak to Carter again or wait till the in-game clock hits 5:00 pm.
To dig, approach any of the squares lined in blue and press the X button to dig if using an Xbox controller. Players may need to dig in the same spot more than once to unearth something when an exclamation mark appears above their head, followed by a glow. It's best to dig in squares with partially revealed items or stones for the best results, but players can find objects in unearthed spots as well. However, it's unlikely players may discover an object in every dig spot.
At the dig site, it's possible to find a mixture of items, such as coins, ores, clay figurines, and high-value golden items like the golden fork. Players can keep track of dig finds discovered by pressing the view button on an Xbox controller to see all items in their findings bag. As in-game years go by, different items become discoverable, such as the Hexagonal Ore, which appears in year 3.

Players can give items they mine in the dig site as gifts in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life to build romances or friendships. For instance, Gustafa is a fan of Moonlight Ore, and other NPCs may accept other items discovered in the mine. However, it's worth noting that Carter doesn't let players keep all items found and will retain any items of archaeological significance, like stone tablets. Carter may also update players on what he and Flora discovered on the tablets at the end of future digging sessions. Discovering dig site items also helps unlock Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life's Wonders, such as the Pieces of History Wonder for finding the third stone tablet.
Alternatively, players can sell any items from the dig site to Van or by using their own shop stall. This can be handy to sell things that some NPCs might not accept, such as fossils, or to make money faster by selling valuable items like the golden fork worth 1000g and the golden comb worth 1500g. Other gold items discoverable in the mine include the golden comb, fish, crown, and bear. Additionally, some of the other dig site items are still worth a decent amount of money, such as the Hexagonal Ore worth 400g.
