Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has dropped a cryptic tease that seems to hint at a new DLC reveal at Tokyo Game Show 2025. The teaser image itself is unlike anything Stellar Blade fans have seen from the stylish action game before, prompting speculation of a potential horror DLC.

Stellar Blade Eve vs Mann

Launched as a PS5 exclusive in April 2024, Stellar Blade is one of the most popular third-party games Sony has published this console generation. The game made its way to PC in June 2025, where it quickly became the most successful Sony-published single-player Steam release. Shift Up has supported Stellar Blade post-release with crossover DLCs involving Nier: Automata and Goddess of Victory: Nikke. Now, the Korean developer has seemingly alluded to yet another DLC for Stellar Blade.

New Stellar Blade DLC Teaser Hints at Complete Tone Switch

Over on the official Stellar Blade Twitter account, a newly-posted image accompanied by the caption "In one week..." Suggests that some new content is on the way and will likely be revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2025, which is set to run from September 25 to September 28. The teaser depicts a dilapidated corridor bathed in ominous orange lighting, along with broken wood floorboards, pockmarked walls, exposed overhead pipes, cables dangling from the ceiling, and a faint yellowish glow at the far end of the hallway. Compared to Stellar Blade's post-apocalyptic cityscapes and desert wastelands, this is a dramatic tonal shift.

Specifically, the teaser image drips with influence from the survival horror genre, more reminiscent of Silent Hill or Resident Evil than anything seen in Stellar Blade so far. Rather interestingly, the stipulated reveal window places this new Stellar Blade content just before the launch of Silent Hill f, giving rise to the possibility of a crossover DLC. Alternatively, Shift Up's could point to a Halloween-themed event, standalone expansion, or one-off horror mission for Stellar Blade, designed to showcase a different side of the studio's cinematic ambitions.

One of the game's first bosses - Stellar Blade

It's already a confirmed fact that a Stellar Blade sequel is in the works at Shift Up, and might release in the 2027-2028 window. The gnarly-looking monster designs in Stellar Blade may even lend themselves well to a survival horror aesthetic, granting Shift Up leeway to explore a wider gamut of themes for the sequel. It remains to be seen whether the teaser image points to a Stellar Blade and Silent Hill f collaboration or something else, but at least it won't be long until the mystery is resolved.
