Summary

  • Fans of Stellar Blade are expressing discontent over alleged censorship.
  • The Stellar Blade petition demanding reversal of perceived censorship has gained over 76,000 signatures.
  • An unrelated tweet about Crow Country was hijacked by angry Stellar Blade fans.

Angry Stellar Blade fans have hijacked a recent tweet about the upcoming indie game Crow Country. Stellar Blade was released last month to mostly positive reviews. It's earned a great deal of praise for its graphics and intense melee combat, but Stellar Blade has not been without controversy.

Shortly after launch, some fans accused Stellar Blade of censoring certain costumes in the game. The uproar caused enough of a stir to see a Stellar Blade petition demanding that the perceived censorship be reversed earn over 76,000 signatures and counting. The Stellar Blade petition is one way that fans have voiced their discontent, but now some have also taken to Twitter to hijack a post about an unrelated game.

Predicting When Stellar Blade Might Release on PC

Stellar Blade hasn't yet been confirmed for PC, but Sony's history of bringing PlayStation exclusives to PC likely means it's just a matter of time.

PlayStation recently sent out a tweet promoting the upcoming indie game Crow Country, a survival-horror title that serves as a throwback to classic PS1 horror games. While some of the comments on the tweet are about Crow Country, many of them are about Stellar Blade, promoting the "Free Stellar Blade" fan campaign and criticizing PlayStation. Clearly, some fans hold PlayStation responsible for the changes they think were made to Stellar Blade. PlayStation has yet to acknowledge the situation, but it seems unlikely that any changes will be made to Stellar Blade as a result of the complaints.

The Stellar Blade controversy isn't the only one that PlayStation is currently dealing with. Another headache has come about thanks to Helldivers 2 requiring Steam users to link to a PlayStation Network account. This decision has seen Helldivers 2 review bombed, as many PC gamers are unhappy with the situation. Like with Stellar Blade, it's unclear if the fan complaints are going to lead to any meaningful change, but it will certainly be interesting to see what happens moving forward.

Stellar Blade Fans Hijack Crow Country Tweet

While Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2 have found themselves in hot water recently, the games have otherwise been well-received PlayStation-published titles. Helldivers 2 has been a huge sales success, and Stellar Blade has earned high scores from critics. There's plenty to look forward to for dedicated fans of the games that aren't upset about the censorship controversy or the account linking requirement. In the case of Stellar Blade, new costumes for Eve are in the works, though specifics have yet to be revealed.
