A Steam user was recently somehow able to unlock an achievement in 7 Days to Die despite not having played the game in more than three years. A small update for 7 Days to Die was released in August that addressed bugs and made other tweaks to the title.

Developed by the Texas-based studio The Fun Pimps, 7 Days to Die is a survival horror game set in the aftermath of a theoretical Third World War that went nuclear. After being in early access since late 2013, the Unity-powered experience's 1.0 build came out in July and reached a record high of 125,000 concurrent players on Steam. Some players on Valve's platform who did not return to 7 Days to Die following its full release were seemingly still affected by the game's most recent updates, as they obtained achievements from the game without even launching The Fun Pimps' popular open-world shooter.

In a recent Reddit post, user elJanne revealed that they managed to unlock 7 Days to Die's "Bite the dust" achievement on Steam despite not having played the game since July 2021. A photo shared by elJanne showed that the achievement was obtained after the game received its most recent update, the v1.0 b336 Hotfix that went live on August 15. Some community members claimed that this incident could have been caused by the full release of 7 Days to Die, while others believe it was just a case of a delayed achievement unlock.

7 Days to Die Steam Achievement Bug

The 1.0 version of 7 Days to Die introduced a new armor system, better graphics, and plenty of additional in-game content, among other things. Hotfix b336 fixed several bugs, including one that caused some characters in saves to become fully encumbered and unresponsive. The small patch also delivered stability improvements to console versions of the game, specifically the Xbox Series X/S ports.

From the title's launch in 2024 all the way to the end of 2025, The Fun Pimps plans to release three major updates for 7 Days to Die, according to a roadmap the developer previously revealed. The first of these updates, which is set to drop around the last quarter of this year, will finally add cross-platform play to 7 Days to Die. It will also feature a wardrobe system, as well as overhauls for weather and biome progression.

7 Days to Die is currently one of the highest-selling games on Steam, according to analytics tracker SteamDB. The title sits on a Very Positive overall rating based on more than 230,000 reviews.
