A brand-new game releasing on Steam in February looks to take inspiration from co-op physics games like Chained Together, with Log Riders starring a pair of lumberjacks. Physics-based platformers have grown into a popular genre throughout recent years, with games like Getting Over It becoming favorites of both streamers and fans alike. Many indie developers on Steam have taken note of the simple, but challenging nature of physics games, tasking players with working against the environment to achieve success. One particular game even took the physics-based fun into a co-op environment.

Chained Together was an instant stream hit for many popular content creators following its June 2024 release. The debut game from developer Anegar Games quickly caught on with fans, with more than 80,000 players hopping onto the co-op platformer in its first week. Chained Together captured the "Stream Game of the Year" honor at the 2024 Streamer Awards, with film studio Anton even revealing it is working on creating a film adaptation of the fan-favorite platformer. Now, a brand-new Steam game takes Chained Together's concept into a wild log ride with a pair of lumberjacks.

Log Riders Is A Physics-Based Co-Op Platformer With Lumberjacks

New game Log Riders from indie developer Bluespy Studios takes the co-op chaos of games like Chained Together in a new direction. Log Riders stars up to two players in the role of a pair of lumberjacks, needing to work together to navigate everything from narrow bridges to operating a mine cart from atop a rolling log. Log Riders features both local and online co-op multiplayer gameplay, with players able to share two sides of the same keyboard to control the pair of lumberjacks, alongside several options for players to customize their in-game character. Log Riders is currently scheduled to release on Steam on February 12, with a price point not revealed ahead of its launch.

Log Riders looks to be an enjoyable romp, perfect for grabbing a friend and getting into some lumberjack hijinx. Bluespy Studios confirmed that Log Riders offers three difficulty levels for players to challenge, while also utilizing a checkpoint system for players to save their progress. The game is not the first to be developed by Bluespy Studios, with the indie developer previously working on detective game Soulflow, tower defense game Toy Shire, and rhythm game Bandroll. Fans in the comments for the game's official launch trailer have also been receptive to Log Riders, suggesting it will likely be a popular choice for streamers.

While Log Riders focuses heavily on its co-op billing, the game does feature some options for players looking to fly solo. Bluespy Studios confirms in the game's description that Log Riders does allow for single-player gameplay, though the game is primarily designed around two players. The trailer for the game teases in-game voice chat, allowing players to easily communicate with one another without relying on external platforms like Discord. Log Riders is also confirmed to boast not only achievements on Steam but an in-game leaderboard, with players challenged to finish the game faster than anyone else.

Co-Op-Focused Games Have Taken Off In Recent Years

Log Riders joins a growing trend of co-op-oriented games, with some seeing huge critical acclaim. Aside from the previously-mentioned Chained Together, games like the Overcooked franchise and Phasmophobia have seen success, encouraging players to team up with friends for some unpredictable fun. Swedish developer Hazelight Studios has been one of the biggest pioneers of modern co-op games, seeing success with games like A Way Out and Split Fiction and even winning the coveted "Game of the Year" award for It Takes Two. Co-op games aren't going anywhere, and Log Riders looks to be a hilariously fun new entry into the genre.
