From now until September 27 at 12:00pm CST, Steam users can claim The Deed completely free of charge. Steam free games are available on a regular basis, with new freebies up for grabs all the time. The catch is that Steam free games are a little unpredictable, and so users have to keep an eye out for free game announcements if they hope to get them in time.
There have been multiple free Steam games given away in September 2025 so far. Cybarian: The Time Travelling Warrior was free until September 23, while Away was free until September 24. Steam users now have yet another chance to claim a free game, but this one is only available until September 27.
The Deed is Free on Steam for a Limited Time
The Deed is free to claim on Steam until September 27 at 12:00pm CST. A murder mystery adventure RPG, The Deed is about getting away with murder by setting up someone else in the Dunshiel House mansion. The game is notable for having a variety of endings depending on the choices players make throughout the game, which means it has a lot of replay value. Steam users have given The Deed a "Very Positive" overall rating, so it should be a no-brainer for fans to grab it while it's still free.
The unfortunate reality is that some Steam users don't find these posts until after the free game giveaway is already over. If that happens with The Deed, the good news is that the game is only $0.99 anyway. While getting The Deed for free is obviously better, the fact that it's available for just a dollar means anyone interested can still check it out without breaking the bank. And even though it's always disappointing to miss out on a free game giveaway, the good news is that Steam gives away freebies on a regular basis. A different free game will undoubtedly be given away sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, there are other free games for PC gamers to claim right now as long as they are willing to venture away from Steam. The current Epic Games Store free games are Samorost 2 and Project Winter, both of which are up for grabs until September 25 at 10:00am CST. At that point, they will be replaced by Eastern Exorcist and Jorel's Brother and The Most Important Game of the Galaxy. Those two games will be free until October 2, but it remains to be seen what their replacements will be.
