How to Unlock the Emote Feature in Starsand Island

Unlock Emotes by completing "Decorate Your Home" from the Islanfd Life app.

Starsand Island does indeed have an Emote feature, and they do have an unlock requirement, which you can start immediately working towards when starting your journey in-game.

Unlocking the Emote feature requires you to complete the Island Life achievement, "Decorate Your Home," in which you must place six pieces of furniture inside your home. Achieving this will reward you with Starsand Points, the Crispy Mushroom recipe, the Rustic Outdoor Bench blueprint, and the aforementioned Emote system.

The next requirement on the to-do list is to get the emotes themselves now that the Emote feature is available. With the feature unlocked, you will start with a few default emotes, but the remaining emotes can be acquired in a few ways.

Where to Get Emotes in Starsand Island

Visit Lunelle's store, Ethereal Styles, where you can buy emotes like Dance Moves.

The first way you can get more emotes is through exploration, mainly through finding Treasure Chests throughout the island. Some chests will contain an emote for your efforts alongside other rewards, so do make some time to track down these chests.

The next way you can acquire emotes is by visiting Lunelle's clothing store, Ethereal Styles, which is located in the town square of Starsand Town. Interact with the cash register, and you will be able to find emotes on sale or available to purchase using Coins before equipping them to the Emote Wheel.

Another way to get Emotes is to complete the Scenery album, which is accessible via the Album app on your phone or in Photo Mode by selecting the Album option before switching to the Scenery tab. Here you can locate important POIs throughout the island, taking a photo of which will add progress to the Collected Sceneries, and you can receive various emotes at certain milestones.

Finally, another way to acquire Emotes is by purchasing unique content for Starsand Island through the DLCs available from the dedicated storefronts. After purchasing them, return to the game, and complete the "Return to the Cabin in the Woods" quest before heading to the Community Center to interact with the Self-Service Terminal to claim the DLC rewards, which include the emotes.

How to Use Emotes in Starsand Island

You can equip your acquired emotes by accessing the Emote Wheel and drag the emotes over before using them in-game.

To find the emotes, press the corresponding button or key to use your in-game phone and select the Emotes app, and ta-da, your acquired emotes can be found here. All emotes are categorized into Basic Actions and Dance Moves, of which you can equip them to the Emote Wheel by dragging your favourite emotes over to the available slots.

You'll have three Emote Wheels to equip your emotes to, so our rule of thumb is to have two Emote Wheels for Basic Actions and a third for the Dance Moves. To access the Emote Wheel in-game, hold the Left Trigger or E key and use the mouse or Analog Stick to browse or navigate between them before highlighting the emote you wish to perform.
