Always Use Charged Strikes When Gathering

One of the most important habits to build early is using charged strikes when collecting resources like wood and stone. Holding down the action button performs a powerful hit that deals a lot more damage than tapping for regular strikes.

While a charged strike costs only one additional stamina point compared to a regular hit, the amount of progress it makes is far greater. This means you will actually save stamina overall and clear resources much faster. You can also chain charged strikes repeatedly until the resource breaks.

Manage Your Stamina

Managing stamina plays a huge role in how productive your days are. Eating food restores stamina, but food can be expensive or time-consuming to prepare early on. A much easier method is sitting down. Benches and chairs restore stamina steadily.

On your starting plot, there is a broken bench that can be repaired cheaply. You can use it to restore your stamina without wasting food or ending the day early.

Make Sure to Get in Bed by 2:00 AM

Time moves more slowly in Starsand Island than in many farming sims, but staying out too late comes with serious consequences. If you are not in bed by 2 AM, you will faint and wake up the next day with only half of your stamina.

If that wasn’t enough, fainting three days in a row results in you sleeping for an entire day to recover. That penalty can ruin your progress early on.

Keep an eye on the clock near the mini-map and head home around midnight, especially during the early game when stamina is limited.

Manage Inventory Space and Storage Chests

In Starsand Island, inventory space is extremely limited at the start. You can upgrade your bag through the backpack menu, but it requires a lot of resources to upgrade it, and you only get five slots per upgrade.

As such, you'll be relying more on storage chests. You can buy chest blueprints from the general store and place them wherever you like. One of the best quality of life features is that crafting and quests pull items directly from your storage, so you do not need to carry everything with you.

You can also deposit matching items into chests without opening them, and switch between all placed chests from within a single chest menu.

Visit the Shops Regularly

There are so many shops in Starsand Island. The general store is open 24 hours a day, and most other shops are open from early morning until late evening. Every shop carries rotating blueprints, including machines and storage upgrades, so checking them regularly is important.

If a shop is closed for the day, you can usually still buy items by speaking to the shopkeeper NPC directly if you find them outside. You can also sell items at the shops. When selling items, processed goods are usually more profitable than raw materials.

You can buy Mini Sentry Bots from the Exploration Club for 190 Gold each. To use one, place it in your hotbar, select it, and summon it (using RT on Xbox or Left Mouse Button on PC). The bot will automatically target nearby enemies for 30 seconds. You can even deploy multiple bots at once to take down stronger enemies.

Take Advantage of Free Resources Everywhere

For the most part, Starsand Island is really generous with resources. There's an abundance of wood and rocks lying all over the island. Plus, there are tons of opportunities to get free items. Charity boxes scattered around the map can give you daily resources such as seeds, fishing items, animal materials, and ammo. Secondly, keep your eyes peeled for treasure chests scattered across the map. These chests contain valuable rewards such as crafting blueprints, materials, seeds, and Coins.

Many chests are cleverly hidden. They can be tucked behind buildings, along the sides of houses, or hidden in tight corners. Make it a habit to scan your surroundings whenever you’re exploring, because you never know when you’ll find one.

Make sure to thoroughly explore the Moonlit Forest. Soil mounds, gravestones, and hidden caves often contain valuable loot. You can place storage chests at forest camps to continue exploring without returning home when your inventory fills up.

Get Some Animals

Farm animals in Starsand Island do far more than produce resources. Feeding animals by hand instead of loading food into their housing increases affection. This leads to better quality drops and faster progression in the ranching profession. Happy animals also actively help with farm maintenance. Rabbits clear weeds, chickens handle flying pests, and ducks eat snails. Keeping animals close to your crops saves time and effort and makes large-scale farming much easier to manage.

Have Smart Farming Layouts

Look for the Farming profession mentor, Graminova, in Starsand Town, to start the quest to become an Expert Farmer.

One of the best items you can get in Starsand Island are Everlasting Seeds. These seeds regrow endlessly, survive all seasons, and give you a steady income without replanting. Planting them in planters rather than directly in the ground lets you move them later if you redesign your farm. Build mode lets you reposition water pumps, fences, and planters, which becomes essential as your farm grows. Using build mode efficiently reduces wasted time walking back and forth across large plots.

Use the Save System to Your Advantage

Starsand Island is extremely generous with saving options. The game autosaves every 3-20 minutes by default, and you can reduce this interval to as little as three minutes in the settings. You can also manually save at any time from the pause menu or by exiting the game. This means you never need to rush home just to lock in progress. If real life interrupts your session, you can safely save and return later without losing part of your day.
