Summary

  • One Starfield player managed to transform their character into Samus Aran from the Metroid series.
  • Reddit user Ecstatic_Ganache9427 also built a ridable version of Samus’s trusty gunship.
  • The game's customization tools have led to many pop culture tributes, with one player recently creating the Prydwen airship from Fallout.

A creative Starfield player is touring the cosmos as Samus Aran from the Metroid series, complete with a spot-on recreation of her iconic Power Suit and matching gunship. Bethesda’s Starfield was one of the biggest releases of 2023, giving players a vast universe of planets to explore however they saw fit. Even a year after the game’s initial launch, players are still taking to the far reaches of space using vessels built with Starfield’s surprisingly in-depth customization suite.

These customization tools have naturally led to a wide variety of in-game tributes to other famous spacecraft from movies, television, and even real life within Starfield, as well as recreations of ships and characters from other video games. Some of the more imaginative of these tributes include Starfield ships modeled after Charizard from Pokemon and a space-fairing version of the Prydwen airship from Fallout.

No Man's Sky Has The Perfect Blueprint for Starfield's Possible DLC Ambitions

Starfield's post-launch content stream has so much potential if Bethesda decides to follow in No Man Sky's post-launch update footsteps.

Starfield’s character customization suite offers a similar level of flexibility, leading Reddit user Ecstatic_Ganache9427 to recreate the legendary intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran of Metroid fame. As shown in a video posted the game's subreddit, this version of Samus features a near-exact rendition of her signature red, gold, and orange Power Suit, complete with a green visor. Ecstatic_Ganache9427 also built a ridable version of Samus’s trusty gunship, a golden saucer-like vessel that matches the angular look of her armor.

Samus Aran Blasts off in Starfield Thanks to Fan Build

Other Reddit users are complimenting Ecstatic_Ganache9427 for their work in bringing Samus and her spaceship to life in Starfield, to the point where some are joking about Nintendo suing them like it did the creators of the Pokemon-like Palworld last month. Others say that seeing this creation makes them want to try Starfield again, especially since recent updates have made the game more stable.

For the most part, the only thing missing from Ecstatic_Ganache9427’s version of Samus is her signature arm cannon weapon and ability to curl up into a Morph Ball, but they seem to make up for that with a Starfield mod that lets them fire Sith Lightning-like energy blasts from their hand. A major part of Starfield’s success stems from the large amount of freedom it gives players to explore its open universe with whatever custom characters and vehicles they can whip up, and this has led to some truly impressive fan crossovers. Metroid’s Samus Aran would feel right at home in the sci-fi world of Starfield, and with over 1,000 planets to visit, she would find no shortage of intergalactic adventure and danger.
