Summary

  • Players can find lucrative Galbank caches in Starfield after completing the Crimson Fleet questline, but the logic behind their spawns is still a mystery.
  • Siding with the Crimson Fleet in the questline has its benefits, such as the ability to sell contraband items easily and no longer being attacked by Crimson Fleet pirates during travel.
  • The appearance of Galbank caches seems to be random, with varying credit values, and some players have reported seeing them even before completing the questline at high character levels.

Players in Starfield are finding lucrative Galbank caches after completing the Crimson Fleet questline, but they haven't quite figured out the logic behind their spawns just yet. While the highlight of the game has arguably been Starfield's ship builder, the Crimson Fleet faction also has its fans. The quests were suitably long, and barring a few bizarre moments, most players would agree that the Crimson Fleet's storyline was a tier above the rest. While players can only unlock the Crimson Fleet by agreeing to be a mole for the UC System Defense (or SysDef), the questline allows them to properly join the pirate faction further down the line.

Though this decision comes as a great annoyance to the Constellation companions of Starfield, there are plenty of gameplay benefits to siding with Delgado and his crew. First and foremost, the Key still provides players an easy way to sell contraband items, and no longer being attacked by Crimson Fleet pirates when grav-jumping across the Settled Systems is a decent perk too. However, regardless of choice, there is also one change that happens after the Crimson Fleet quests: Galbank caches start to appear in random places.

Starfield Reveals How Much Time the Average Player Spends in the Game

Starfield reveals how much time the average player spends playing the popular sci-fi RPG, along with other interesting statistics.

A thread was opened on the main Starfield subreddit by Biggft_d_beast to discuss these caches, as no official breakdown exists thus far. The Galbank credit caches seem to appear inside random Points of Interest, such as Civilian, Mining, Industrial, and Science Outposts, and their value usually ranges from 4,000 and up to 20,000 credits. Curiously, some Starfield players have reported seeing the caches even before finishing the Crimson Fleet storyline, albeit at only high character levels.

There is no known logic behind their spawn rate, spawn location, or even the amount of credits that each cache yields, but Starfield players speculate that the value is a random range that increases with character level. Starting New Game Plus in Starfield after concluding the Crimson Fleet storyline seems to prevent them from spawning until the players complete the faction quests once again, which is something to keep in mind when entering Unity.

As revealed by Starfield's ambitious roadmap for 2024, players should expect to see updates delivered by Bethesda at a regular pace. Though the developers have been tight-lipped about any details, these updates will seemingly fix some of the game's most glaring flaws (such as introducing an alternate way of travel). To top it all off, Shattered Space will also launch in early 2024, as will paid mod support through the new Creations platform. While it remains to be seen how players will embrace the new changes coming to Starfield, Bethesda's latest sandbox is sure to be a different game in a year from now.
