  • Starfield player Tyraniczar showcases an impressive Legendary Weapon, emphasizing the value of specialized sniper rifles.

  • The Instigating trait enhances sniper rifles like the Advanced Magsniper, boosting base damage in real-time combat.

In preparation for Shattered Space, a Starfield player highlights the best sniper rifle that they have managed to obtain since the game's launch. While there is much to be said about the open world in Starfield, one aspect of its gameplay received universal praise from Bethesda fans and newcomers alike – the gunplay. From shotguns to sniper rifles, Starfield allows players to specialize in a wide variety of weaponry, and pulling the trigger is always satisfying.

Sniper rifles in Starfield have always been a staple, and will likely continue to be viable in Shattered Space. While Hard Target can be a decent choice, Magsnipers have firmly established themselves as the best option for sniper rifle builds. Unlike Skyrim and Fallout 4, Starfield has further embraced the concept of randomized loot, and getting the right set of weapon traits is paramount. For example, given that sniper rifles are designed to deliver a high amount of damage per shot, the Instigating trait has tremendous value.

The Legendary Weapon obtained by Tyraniczar is one such sniper rifle, as it has the Instigating trait, as well as Poison and Concussive. As an Advanced Magsniper with fully upgraded mods, it has a base damage value of 1692. It should be noted that Starfield calculates weapon damage in real-time. As a result, the value also accounts for any passive buffs obtained from the skill tree in Starfield. With Instigating triggered during combat, the Advanced Magsniper has its base damage raised to a final value of 2538.

Starfield Player Shows Off Impressive Advanced Magsniper

Tyraniczar exclusively plays on the highest difficulty levels available in Starfield, and their playthrough of over 600 hours has reached New Game +11. Though companions in Starfield serve a similar function to the ones from Fallout 4, a key perk for sniper rifles is Isolation, which gives a 40% bonus to damage if the player is alone.

As Shattered Space for Starfield prepares for launch, players are cautiously excited that Bethesda will deliver an ambitious expansion pack that addresses some of the game's most glaring flaws. Unlike the procedurally generated planets of The Settled Systems, the city of Dazra and the hidden homeworld of House Va'ruun are intended to be a handcrafted experience. Though it can be assumed that Shattered Space will come with a new arsenal of weaponry, mainstays such as the Magsniper should still remain viable. Starfield fans can expect to play Shattered Space on September 30, 2024.
