Thanks to no small amount of effort, a Starfield player managed to assemble an impressive outpost after 330 hours of playtime. Though Starfield has a mixed rating on Steam, with more negative than positive reviews left by its players in the last 30 days, Bethesda's latest sandbox features a few aspects that received near-universal praise at launch, with its ship builder in particular standing tall above the rest. From making original concepts to recreating their favorite starships, Starfield players sunk countless hours into the feature, and while the outpost system isn't as refined by comparison, it still managed to attract the same kind of creativity.

Somewhere in the middle of their 330-hour playthrough, Kkell93 took the time to construct a truly praiseworthy outpost, sharing the end result with the rest of the Starfield community on Reddit. Boasting some tasteful elevation, a circular design, and several floors – the outpost is both visually striking and fully functional. In addition to having an impressive layout, the interior of the outpost is also generously decorated with furniture.

Arguably the biggest barriers to creating an impressive outpost are stocking up on the resources needed for the task, and investing in the correct Starfield skills, such as Outpost Engineering and Planetary Habitation. Once these two factors are met, outpost building becomes an addictive way to pass the time in Starfield, even if the lack of a placement grid makes interior decoration a bit of a chore.

Unfortunately, it should be noted that outposts do not carry over into a New Game Plus in Starfield, as passing through Unity resets the game world into a clean slate. With no ability to save blueprints, it's generally advised to at least conclude Starfield's main story first before committing to a long-term outpost – though not everyone will choose to walk through Unity and start New Game Plus. While not much is known about the upcoming Shattered Space DLC for Starfield yet, many players are hoping that it will focus on the enigmatic House Va'ruun faction. If the speculation turns out to be true, then fans should hopefully see Va'ruun-themed habitats make their way to the outpost system.
