Summary

  • In Starfield, players can sometimes find powerful weapons in unexpected places, like a level 32 player who obtained a legendary rifle from a level 98 pirate.
  • The rifle came with impressive perks like Instigating, which does double damage to targets with full health, as well as Incendiary and Elemental, which allow the rifle to deal Incendiary, Corrosive, Radiation, and Poison damage.
  • While the game has been criticized for its procedural generation, it is the randomness that allows for amazing moments of luck to occur.

A Starfield player has managed to gain an amazing rifle from a level 98 pirate while their character was at level 32. Most of the best weapons in Starfield are given as rewards for specific quests, but sometimes, players can get lucky and find excellent loot where they least expect.

Despite the game being an undeniable hit, aspects regarding procedural generation in Starfield have often been criticized by players and critics alike. Starfield has countless random outposts with generic enemies on them and vast, empty landscapes that sometimes feel lacking in uniqueness. However, it’s due to the randomness of the game’s universe that some genuinely amazing moments are possible.

Starfield Players Think Bethesda Cut an Entire Ship Brand Out of the Game

Starfield players believe that they have found evidence that Bethesda may have cut one ship brand out of the game before the launch.

One of these moments happened when a Starfield player called JaykDoe scored a powerful Legendary Rifle while they were only at level 32. At the time, they were exploring a Level 75 moon and eventually found a Level 98 pirate, which they were able to defeat, despite the level difference. The reward was an Elemental Advanced Hard Target Legendary Rifle with Physical damage of 297, worth 58599 credits. The rifle came with three perks: Instigating, Incendiary, and Elemental, which make it even deadlier. The Instigating perk, for example, deals double damage to targets with full health. The others allow the rifle to randomly deal Incendiary, Corrosive, Radiation, and Poison damage.

JaykDoe also explained how they were able to beat such high-level enemies with ease even while playing on Very Hard. They started the game by focusing on leveling up weapon engineering skills and found an advanced AA-99 by Level 10. Soon after that, they modified an Advanced Beowolf weapon with the Instigating perk for a stealth sniper build. With a gun with over 450 DPS (due to the perk, plus mods), they could beat almost enemy as long as they remained in stealth. To actually find high-level enemies, however, all a player needs to do is look for the hardest star systems in Starfield, as there are some Level 70 to 75 systems in which it’s possible to find enemies like the Level 98 pirate.

While JaykDoe was lucky to find this rifle, the procedural generation in Starfield also causes some weird moments. Last week, another player gained an Osmium Dagger with the Extended Magazine perk. The Extended Magazine perk doubles a weapon’s bullet capacity, and it’s useless on a knife, which makes for a hilarious social media post, despite not being very useful in Starfield.

Starfield is available for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
