  • Starfield modding scene gains momentum; Creation Kit tools enhancing player creativity with promising mods.

A clever Starfield modder has added the iconic Warthog from the Halo series to Bethesda's RPG. This mod comes just days after Bethesda added drivable land vehicles to Starfield, with players wasting no time replacing the vehicle with something more familiar.

Ever since Starfield's launch, the lack of land vehicles was a significant source of frustration among players, especially when the game's planet layouts seemed designed for their existence. At Gamescom Opening Night Live, Bethesda dropped a same-day update for Starfield, finally bringing this much-requested feature into the game in the form of the REV-8. In the days since, modders have immediately got to work on replacing this vehicle with others, including one Starfield mod that adds an iconic Star Wars vehicle. Considering how new land vehicles are for Starfield, this is only the beginning of what will undoubtedly result in many amazing mods.

This mod is titled "M12B FAV (Warthog) (Standalone)" and can be found on Nexus Mods from user NotSiouxsie. It only has one function, adding the Warthog from the Halo series to Starfield. Interestingly, this isn't a replacement for the REV-8, so players can still use it for a more lore-friendly experience if they desire. Frankly, it doesn't even look out of place, and near-perfectly resembles the iconic Halo vehicle. It's missing the mounted turret on the back, but that could cause clipping issues if the vehicle flips at a strange angle, so it's understandable why this may have been cut.

Starfield Mod Adds Drivable Halo Warthog

Just under a year after the release of Starfield, the game's modding scene is beginning to look extremely promising. The Creation Kit was released in June, giving creators access to powerful tools that allow them to make just about any mod they can imagine if they've got the skill set to make it work. Because of the complexity of these tools, it will likely be some time before the full potential of modding can be fully realized, although there have already been some fantastic mods since the release of the Creation Kit. There's even a Starfield mod that fixes Earth, addressing one of players' biggest complaints about the game in general.

While land vehicles have now been released, there's still plenty for Starfield fans to look forward to in the near future. The modding community continues to go from strength to strength, while Starfield's Shattered Space DLC is finally set to release on September 30. Although the game's release almost a year ago may have been polarizing, Bethesda has made some solid improvements since then. Hopefully, this will continue long into the future.
