Crafting and building both play a big part in the overall Starfield experience. Players can make their own gear mods and outposts by using raw resources in the right places and surely enough, they're going to need a ton of resources if they want to keep producing items.
Sealant is one of the more commonly used resources in Starfield. It's needed in the production of certain mods as well as basic outpost modules, which means players are going to need a lot of these if they ever plan on tinkering with gear or building bases. This resource is a bit hard to come by though, but not if players know where to look.
Where to Find Sealant in Starfield
Sealant is commonly found in the inventories of general goods merchants all over the Settled Systems. A single unit doesn't cost many Credits, and it's a good idea to purchase a trader's whole stock of Sealant whenever players get the chance.
General goods stores can be found in every major settlement in Starfield. Here are a few examples of such establishments:
- New Atlantis: Outland, Jemison Mercantile, UC Distribution
- Akila City: Shepherd's General Store
- Neon: Sieghart's Outfitters, Newill's Goods
Trade Authority stores also sell resources, and they can be located almost everywhere a settlement can be found. These are always worth visiting as they normally have a wide assortment of goods to trade, and they even buy stolen items and contraband from players.
Those who don't want to spend any money to get Sealant can instead explore the Settled Systems in search of very specific flora and fauna. Plants and animals have a chance to yield Sealant when harvested, though finding such species can be very difficult.
When exploring a planet, use the scanner to analyze organic lifeforms. After fully scanning a plant or animal, the game will reveal the kinds of resources they drop as well as the types of climates they thrive in, making it easier to look for them in other solar systems.
Players who manage to find lifeforms that yield Sealant should then create an outpost on the related planet. This will create a fast travel point that can be used from anywhere in the universe, making it a very convenient way to travel when players find themselves needing more Sealant.
It may be best to look for Sealant in high-level star systems. Killing docile, high-level fauna rewards more XP than usual and since they're non-aggressive, players won't have to worry about fighting. This is an efficient way of earning more levels quickly while still getting Sealant via exploration and hunting.
Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
