Gold (Au) is a rare mineral in Starfield essential for constructing Outpost structures, acquiring weapon modifications, and fulfilling research tasks. As the name implies, rare resources are challenging to locate, and Gold is no exception. In the vast expanse of the game, there are roughly 60 specific locations where Gold can be harvested. This concise Starfield guide aims to assist players in maximizing their yield of Gold from these locations and provides useful tips for discovering its deposits faster.
Starfield: How to Get Chlorine (Cl)
Despite being a common Inorganic resource, Chlorine can be challenging to collect; here’s how to farm this resource the easy way.
How to Farm Gold
In Starfield, players can get Gold (Au) through three methods: Purchasing it from a vendor, collecting it from ores, or extracting it from deposits.
Crush Raw Gold Ore with the Cutter
Aim the scanner at a Gold ore and shoot to break it into pieces. This will automatically add Au to the inventory with no additional steps required. (Each ore grants a couple of Gold.)
Build a Gold Extractor Over an Au Deposit
The most effective way of farming Gold in Starfield is by mining it via Extractors. After discovering an Au deposit, build an Outpost nearby and construct a Gold Extractor over the highlighted area. This will passively generate this rare resource even when the player is away.
Note that Gold Extractors require power sources to function. Also, it would be a good idea to construct a storage or container nearby so each tool can extract more Au per hour.
Upgrade the Scanning Skill to Rank 2 so that Gold deposits show up on the planet's resource map.
Purchase Gold from Resource Vendors
For 22 to 24 Credits, players can purchase Gold ore from any resource merchant in the major cities. This, of course, has a 24-hour cool-down, as vendors’ inventories offer a limited amount of each mineral or gas.
Best Planets for Gold Mining
In terms of accessibility, the best place for farming Gold is Guniibuu II in the Guniibuu star system. Players visit this planet early in the game, and it requires no Outpost upgrades. Other locations with large Au deposits are Charybdis V in the Charybdis system and Altair III in the Altair system.
How to Get Gold with Console Commands
To obtain free Gold resources using Console Commands, players need to input the code 00005579. Specifically, they should use the command player.additem 00005579 [Quantity]. The placeholder [Quantity] should be replaced with the desired number of Gold ores.
Starfield is available now for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
