Summary

  • The "Earth Restored" mod for Starfield overhauls Earth with flora, fauna, resources, and new biomes, offering a massive content upgrade.
  • The modding community impresses by addressing Starfield's shortcomings, enhancing the game's potential for years to come.

A recently released mod for Starfield has added a bunch of new content to Earth, which addresses one of the most common community complaints about the game. The Starfield modding community has impressed so far, and it's cool to see modders managing to fix some of the game's shortfalls.

When Bethesda announced that it was creating a space RPG, many gamers wondered whether Earth would be explorable. Upon release, gamers were able to fly to Earth, although what they discovered wasn't necessarily what they had expected. They found that Earth in Starfield was a completely barren wasteland, with just a few recognizable landmarks found around the planet. Considering the level of destruction around the world, many felt that this didn't make much sense to have just these landmarks left standing, leaving Earth a massive disappointment all around.

The mod is titled "Earth Restored," and was created by AinsyMods on Bethesda.net. Available on both PC and Xbox Series X, the mod is a complete overhaul of Earth. Starfield's Earth landmarks are no longer the most interesting thing about the planet, with added flora, fauna, and resources placed around the planet, as well as different creatures. That's not all - the planet biomes have changed so that the majority of Earth is now a pine forest, and oceans have been added alongside sea life. This includes new enemy outposts, offering a ton of content for those disappointed with Bethesda's version of Earth. It's such an enormous change that is a must-try mod for anyone who plays Starfield with mods.

Starfield Mod Brings Earth Back to Life

The modding community for Starfield so far has been extremely impressive. With the recent release of the Creation Kit, modders are able to push the game further than ever before, with many choosing to address what they feel are the biggest problems with Starfield via mods. There is even one Starfield mod that brings humans back to Earth, although that isn't quite as big an overhaul as this mod is. Starfield has so much potential, and there's no doubt that the modders will be helping to fulfill it for many years to come.

The base game of Starfield has already come a long way since launch. Mods help this further, of course, but there are many who just want to play the vanilla experience. One recent clip showed how far Starfield's stealth has come since launch, and the same can be said of plenty of other areas in the game, too. With Starfield's Shattered Space DLC set to release later this year, it'll be interesting to see if Bethesda can continue to improve the game, winning over those who were unimpressed at launch.
