Summary

  • Starfield players are getting creative with ship customization, designing vessels that resemble famous spaceships, bugs, and animals.
  • Reddit user SP7R created an impressive black widow spider ship in Starfield, with realistic details and 40 hours spent in the ship builder.
  • The Starfield community is impressed by the design and curious about how to recreate it, and there is plenty of potential for more creative ship designs in the future.

A skilled and creative Starfield player has built an impressive-looking ship that looks exactly like a black widow spider. With over 1,000 different planets for Starfield fans to explore, many players are choosing to customize their own personal spaceship to cruise the cosmos in style.

One of the biggest selling points for Starfield before it launched earlier this month was its ship customization. With enough creativity, not only can players customize their ships to look cool, but they can make them look like other famous spaceships. Like when Reddit user Amagical created Futurama’s Planet Express in Starfield, a recreation that looks almost identical to the green animated transport vessel in the show. Other players have created ships from Star Trek and Star Wars, as well as the UNSC Pelican from Halo. As impressive as it is to recreate other famous ships, some players are choosing to customize their ships to look like real-life bugs and animals.

Reddit user SP7R posted a series of images of their ship customized to look like a giant black widow spider. The ship itself looks exactly like a black widow, with eight long legs and red markings in the middle of it. Seeing this spider ship in the Starfield customization screen is impressive enough, but the pictures showcasing the giant spider flying around space make the ship look even more menacing. According to SP7R, they’ve played about 50 hours of the game, and 40 of them were spent in the ship builder.

The Starfield community as a whole seems to be very impressed with this design, with over 450 comments praising it. Many of the commenters found it hard to believe that it was possible to make something so realistic-looking with Starfield’s ship builder mechanic, with some people asking for details on how to make it. One commenter mentioned that they were going to skip playing the game until they saw this spider ship, and now they’re going to check it out.

SP7R is not the only player to make a realistic bug or animal in game, as Reddit user Angryoldduck recently designed a realistic-looking duck ship in Starfield. The duck ship even has a yellow bill and orange-tinted thrusters for webbed feet. Starfield has only been out for about a week, and there’s no telling how creative some players will get once they truly understand the limitations of Starfield’s ship builder.

Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
