Summary

  • Starfield players are showcasing their creative starship designs, including gun-shaped gunships and houses, using the game's ship builder feature.
  • Players are also recreating their favorite starships from popular franchises, such as Star Destroyers and Borg Cubes, in Starfield. A recent Armored Core-themed design is an awesome standout, as it allows players to fly a mech through outer space.
  • Although mechs are explicitly banned in the Starfield universe, players are hoping that Bethesda will consider implementing them in the future through DLC to offer new combat options and address the lack of land vehicles in the game.

Inspired by Armored Core, a Starfield player shared their custom-made starship designed through the game's increasingly popular ship builder. While fans have had their criticisms of the latest Bethesda title, the ship builder in Starfield remains a highlight. Since launch, Starfield players have gone on social media to share their original designs and faithful recreations, showcasing creative concepts such as gun-shaped gunships, or even a Starfield ship built like a house.

On the flip side, Star Destroyers and Borg Cubes in Starfield have also made an appearance, as players have attempted to recreate their favorite starships from popular franchises. Armored Core is no different, as this FromSoftware video game series recently launched its sixth installment to widespread acclaim. Whereas Starfield players fly around in a starship, the Armored Core equivalent is piloting a combat mech, and though the ship builder in Starfield is modular enough to allow all sorts of builds, it did take a while for fans to figure out how to make vertical designs.

Starfield Bug Turns Cora Coe Into an Adult

Players have come across some curious bugs in Starfield, and one glitch causes the young Cora Coe to spontaneously grow up to become an adult.

A player named ezmonkeyz shared their design of an Armored Core mech on the official Starfield subreddit, using a combination of weapon mounts, structural parts, and even habitats to accurately convey the scale of an Armored Core's arsenal. The end result has received plenty of praise from the community, though unfortunately, the ship parts in Starfield are far less agile in movement compared to the mech parts from Armored Core 6.

This imposing ship build stands at nine habitats tall, which unfortunately means that reaching the cockpit from the landing bay probably takes a long while due to how ladders work in Starfield. A simple way to circumvent the slow climbing animation is to use boost jumps, though Starfield players are hoping that Bethesda considers implementing an elevator system in the future to accommodate more complex ship builds.

Curiously, mechs are explicitly banned in the Starfield universe by the United Colonies, and players even get to explore a mech graveyard during one of the story missions for the Freestar Rangers faction. Though it's likely that Bethesda made this creative choice so that mechs didn't overshadow the extremely addictive gunplay of Starfield, there is a possibility for the developers to implement a mech segment in the future through DLC. The lack of any land vehicles in Starfield has been a common complaint among fans, and mechs could potentially solve that problem while offering a new way to approach combat outside dungeons and other instances.
