Summary
- Starfield players have successfully built detailed replicas of Star Wars ships, with Anakin Skywalker's Podracer being the latest addition.
- The Podracer replica features accurate colors and design elements, including twin engines and a small trailing cockpit.
- The construction primarily utilizes structural modules, allowing for greater creativity in shipbuilding, and the replica is estimated to be around 80 feet long and affordable in terms of in-game currency.
One Starfield fan with some serious engineering chops managed to build Anakin Skywalker's Podracer from Star Wars in Bethesda's galaxy-hopping RPG. Their achievement is just the latest in a long string of impressive custom ships that Starfield players have put together since the game's debut.
Of all the Starfield replicas that surfaced online to date, recreations of Star Wars vessels have been a particularly popular type of engineering project among the fandom. The players have hence already managed to build Starfield versions of the Star Wars Y-Wing ship, Stinger Mantis, and Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter, among countless other spacecraft inspired by the iconic sci-fi franchise.
The latest addition to that growing fleet of Star Wars-inspired vessels comes from Reddit user knaivey, who recently went through the effort of recreating Anakin's Podracer in Starfield. Their creation is instantly evocative of the futuristic hovercraft seen in Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace, not least because of its twin engines and a small trailing cockpit, all of which are interconnected with fairly thin beams intended to mimic the original's cable construction. The player even made sure that the ship was colored correctly, adorning it with shades of silver, yellowish brown, blue, and purple.
While the fan did not share a parts list that was used in the creation of this impressive replica, the end result of their design efforts suggests that the majority of the construction utilizes structural modules. Such components come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and offer no special functionality, with their main purpose thus being to allow for greater freedom in the types of ships that Starfield players can build. This Podracer replica also spans just three floors and appears to be roughly 80 feet long, which ostensibly puts it on the affordable end of the custom ship spectrum, likely in the sub-100,000 credits range.
Reflecting on their achievement, knaivey described their recreation of Anakin's Podracer as "not an easy build." That should be an accurate assessment, coming from an extremely prolific engineer such as themselves. For clarity, knaivey has so far leveraged the game's shipbuilding mechanics into a varied array of amazing vessels, including an impressive Starfield pirate ship.
This faithful Podracer replica certainly won't be the last majestic custom spacecraft that the fandom manages to cobble together; with Starfield already boasting over 10 million players, many more such spectacular vessels are likely to emerge online as the game gets closer to its two-month release anniversary.
Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
