Amethyst is more than just a pretty purple stone in Stardew Valley. Amethyst can be used for many different things, including increasing some of your weapons' abilities, helping you to complete Community Center Bundles, and much more. It might not be worth as much as a Diamond, but it is certainly a useful addition to your collection.
There are a multitude of locations where Amethyst can be found, and it's in more than just Gem Nodes. It is relatively common, but won't necessarily jump out at you the minute you step into the Mines in Stardew Valley. If you're struggling to find this gem, here's what you can do.
Stardew Valley: How to Get a Nautilus Shell
Nautilus shells are a rare forage item in Stardew Valley, but you can find as many as you need if you know where to look.
How to Get Amethyst in Stardew Valley
Amethyst can be found in multiple locations from different sources. This includes:
- Amethyst Nodes found in the Mines
- Gem Nodes found in the Mines
- Green Slimes
- Dwarvish Sentries found in the Volcano Dungeon
- Fishing Chests
- Panning
Out of all the available methods, the easiest ones will be in the Mines, through Amethyst and Gem Nodes. These can also be found in Skull Cavern and the Quarry, but the Mines will be the most easily accessible if you are still towards the beginning of the game. Skull Cavern will unlock once you have arrived in Calico Desert, and you'll be able to visit the Quarry after completing the Craft Room Bundle in the Community Center or paying for it at JojaMart.
If you're looking to pick some up outside of mining, the best option is through Fishing Chests or Panning. Panning becomes available after completing the Fish Tank Bundles or purchasing Panning from JojaMart, allowing you to gather ore found in water. You'll notice a few sparkling spots in the water where you can do some Panning, and there's a possibility to pick up some Amethyst this way.

How to Use Amethyst in Stardew Valley
Amethyst is used for more than just selling or gifting. It can be used for:
- Completing the Treasure Hunter's Bundle in the Community Center Boiler Room (Remixed)
- Can be used at the Volcano Forge to increase knockback in any weapon
- Can be used to tailor a pink shirt
- Can be used to complete a few quests, including 'Clint's Attempt', Help Wanted Board requests, Fish Pond quests, Emily's 'Rock Rejuvenation' quest on the Special Orders board, the Gem Birds puzzle on Ginger Island
If you've unlocked the Remixed version of the Community Center by starting a new game, you can use Amethyst to complete the Treasure Hunter's Bundle and get you closer to restoring the center.
Amethyst is also often used in many quests, so saving some in your pockets will be useful when these pop up. If you've reached the Volcano Dungeon on Ginger Island as well, once you reach level 10, you'll be able to visit the Volcano Forge. Here, you can provide one Amethyst and 10 Cinder Shards to increase the knockback of a weapon of your choosing. These are the best uses for Amethyst, outside of just selling it for a small profit or gifting it to a villager.
