The Desert is full of new places to explore in Stardew Valley, including Skull Cavern, the Oasis, and more. There are new fish to discover over here as well that you can't get anywhere else, like the Sandfish and
Scorpion Carp, one of the most difficult to catch in the game.
Even though the Scorpion Carp is not a legendary fish, it surely acts like one with its erratic behavior and difficulty to obtain. For those wanting to pick one up, we will show you where you can find the Scorpion Carp and what methods you can use to make the process easier.
Stardew Valley: How to Catch Dorado
Catching Dorado - the rare mahi-mahi-looking fish - is not an easy task in Stardew Valley; you will need this fishing guide to tackle that.
How to Catch a Scorpion Carp in Stardew Valley
There's only one spot in Stardew Valley where you can pick up a Scorpion Carp: The Desert pond. When you get off the bus, make your way northwest toward Skull Cavern, and there will be a small pond in front of the entrance. This is where you can pick up your Scorpion Carp.
To catch this fish, you'll need to at least be at level 4 for fishing. If you aren't currently at this level, you can also eat something that gives you a Fishing Buff to raise your level for a short period of time. Since the Scorpion Carp is one of the hardest to catch in general, we will also recommend a few additional buffs and enhancements to make it easier to catch:
- Have a higher-quality fishing rod, either Fiberglass or Iridium Rod
- Add regular Bait or Wild Bait to your fishing rod
- Add a Trap Bobber (makes it harder for fish to escape) or Cork Bobber (increases fishing bar size) to reel in the fish more easily
- Add a Quality Bobber to increase the quality of the Scorpion Carp you reel in
The Trap Bobber will be the most useful tackle for a Scorpion Carp since they have a darting behavior when you're reeling them in. The Trap Bobber will help you to keep the Scorpion Carp on the line even when the fish isn't inside your fishing bar.
The Scorpion Carp is available during any season, but you'll want to make sure to catch it from 6 am to 8 pm.

How to Use a Scorpion Carp in Stardew Valley
The Scorpion Carp has a couple of uses in Stardew Valley. This includes:
- Used in the Master Fisher's Bundle in the Community Center (Remixed)
- Used in a few recipes (Maki Roll, Quality Fertilizer, Sashimi)
- Used to tailor a Fishing Hat
- Can be used in Fish Ponds
- Can appear as a 'Help Wanted' request for a reward of 450g
The best use for the Scorpion Carp is to complete the Master Fisher's Bundle in the remixed version of the Community Center. The remixed versions are available to you whenever you create a new game. If you don't have access to this bundle, then another great option is to sell the fish for a profit of up to 450g or use it in a Fish Pond to multiply its numbers and earn more cash.
Outside of this, you can also use it to tailor a Fishing Hat or create a few recipes. However, these things can be created using other fish as well. Since the Scorpion Carp is worth a lot and hard to catch, we recommend not using it for these items.
