The Mines is not only a place to find rare gems in Stardew Valley, but you can also find a few fishing spots to pick up some fish you can't find anywhere else. You can use these special fish for a multitude of purposes, including to help complete some Community Center Bundles.

Ghostfish are found only within the Mines, and can be hard for you to catch if you've just started out in here. There are certain floors where it can be located, and it isn't always the easiest to catch. If you're looking to pick up a Ghostfish, here's where you can find it.

Nautilus shells are a rare forage item in Stardew Valley, but you can find as many as you need if you know where to look.

How to Get Ghostfish in Stardew Valley

If you want to pick up a Ghostfish, there is only one location where you can find it: The Mines. You'll find this in the northeastern section of Pelican Town, to the right of the Train Platform. In particular, there are only a few floors that have spots to do some fishing, including:

  • Level 20
  • Level 60
  • Level 100

Level 20 will be the easiest location since this lake mostly just has Ghostfish, Green Algae, and White Algae. Higher levels will give you the chance to catch other, more rare fish, including the Lava Eel and Ice Pip.

While the Ghostfish is much easier to catch than the Ice Pip and Lava Eel, it still has occasional sudden movements, so you'll want to make sure you have a higher-quality fishing pole to extend your fishing bar and make it easier to catch. You can also use any bait to attract it. After you've reached Level 20 in the Mines, just head to the right, and there will be a large lake you can fish in before moving on to the next level.

There are a few different things you can do with Ghostfish outside of just selling them. Since they aren't very profitable fish to begin with, it's best to use them for these other methods instead. This includes:

  • Using a Ghostfish in the Specialty Fish Bundle
  • Used in Recipes (Maki Roll, Quality Fertilizer, Sashimi)
  • Used to tailor a Fish Shirt
  • Used in a Fish Pond

The best use for the Ghostfish is in the Specialty Fish Bundle in the Community Center if you have not completed this just yet. It is one of the easier fish to locate in the bundle.

You can use the Ghostfish for other purposes as well, including creating a Fish Shirt in the sewing machine and even in a few recipes. You can also place a Ghostfish in a Fish Pond, and they will begin to multiply. There's a small chance to receive the following items from Ghostfish in a Fish Pond:

  • Ghostfish Roe
  • Quartz
  • White Algae
  • Refined Quartz
  • Pale Broth
