  • Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, the game's creator, says that he'd like to work on Stardew Valley for the rest of his life.

Two incredibly talented Stardew Valley fans managed to create a farm entirely out of gingerbread and sweets just in time for the holiday season. Since its initial release in 2016, Stardew Valley has continued to inspire fans, with many taking to the internet to share cosplay, fan art, and much more.

Created by the single developer Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, the farm life sim Stardew Valley hasn't dwindled in popularity over the years. Incredibly, the title has sold 35 million copies globally, more than heavy hitters like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Diablo 3, and Cyberpunk 2077. In a recent interview, Barone said that he could work on Stardew Valley for his entire life, still dedicated to perfecting the game and adding more content for players to enjoy in the years and decades to come. The game's fandom remains incredibly active, with two players coming together to bring a little holiday cheer to the community.

In a recent Reddit post, user RevolutionaryRub8026 shared some images of their Year 1 Stardew Valley farm made entirely out of gingerbread and other scrumptious sweets. The fan shared that each year, they create a themed niche gingerbread house with their friend, selecting Stardew Valley to serve as the inspiration for 2024's build. In the comments section, the creator goes into more detail about the materials used, explaining that the dirt for the farm was made out of blended graham cracker, with wet dirt mixed with crushed Oreo. The trees were created by combining Rice Krispies, pretzel rods, icing, and graham crackers, with candy fruits as decoration.

The simulation title has inspired everything from LEGO builds and tattoos to multiple international Stardew Valley concert tours, with Stardew Valley: Symphony of Seasons scheduled to kick off in 2025. Fans able to snag tickets can expect to be serenaded by a 35-piece orchestra performing new arrangements of the game's music, with Barone inviting die-hard fans to dress up as their favorite characters when they attend. As tickets for the tour have been selling out at an incredible pace, more dates were recently added to keep up with fan demand.

While Barone is eager to work on Stardew Valley as long as he is able, that doesn't mean that other projects are off the table. In October 2021, the creator revealed a gameplay trailer for Haunted Chocolatier, a darker game featuring a haunted castle and all manner of spooky creatures. Development on Haunted Chocolatier has been paused as Barone finishes up some fine-tuning on Stardew Valley Update 1.6, and no release window has been announced.
