  • Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe thinks the BG3-inspired mod is cool, but he doesn’t really play the game with mods.
  • Baldur’s Village introduces 20 new characters, six new regions, new shops with special in-game items, and more.
  • ConcernedApe appreciates the creative freedom that Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update has given to modders.

Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe said he thinks the Baldur’s Gate 3-inspired mod is “cool,” though he hasn’t tried it himself, as he doesn’t really play Stardew Valley mods. “Baldur's Village,” Stardew Valley’s BG3 mod, went through some ups and downs but finally managed to return after being mistakenly taken down, and while a bunch of players are enjoying it, ConcernedApe has not tried it yet.

There is a wide array of Stardew Valley mods for players to choose from, enhancing the game in all sorts of creative ways. Even though it may seem like the hugely popular indie farming sim already offers plenty of content and things to do, players are always on the lookout for new features, activities, and characters to engage with—and that’s where modders come in. From adding seasonal outfits and improving gameplay features like fishing to introducing entirely new areas filled with places to explore, modders have brought a new layer of charm and appeal to an already excellent title. Last year, a group of dedicated developers unveiled “Baldur's Village,” which set out to reimagine some of the characters and stories of Baldur’s Gate 3 within Stardew Valley—and now, ConcernedApe has shared his thoughts on it.

Following some controversy involving Wizards of the Coast mistakenly sending a DMCA takedown notice for Stardew Valley’s BG3 mod, the popular project became available again at the beginning of April 2025. In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Stardew Valley’s creator revealed he has read some articles and seen a few images of the mod, and thinks it’s cool, though he hasn’t tried it himself.

Stardew Valley Creator Reveals He Doesn’t Play the Game with Mods

As ConcernedApe explained, even though he appreciates the work of modders—as shown by Stardew Valley update 1.6 making modding easier—he admitted he doesn’t play the game with mods. He also emphasized how important it is for him to give players control over the game, and he hopes some of the new features added in update 1.6 were useful to the creator of Baldur's Village.

Stardew Valley’s Baldur's Gate 3 mod seems like the perfect blend for players who enjoy the charming, cozy environment of the farming sim and the gripping narrative of Larian’s massively popular RPG. In Baldur's Village, players get 20 new characters, including Astarion, Karlach, Shadowheart, and Gale, along with six new regions, new shops with special in-game items, and more. The mod even introduces triggering events and a fully developed personal storyline for Astarion. Players can download the mod from the creator’s Nexus Mods profile and explore all the content it brings.
