Summary
- Creator of Stardew Valley, ConcernedApe, finally achieves 100% completion after 8 years.
- Final achievement, Fector's Challenge, required beating arcade game, Journey of the Prairie King.
- Players find arcade games like Journey of the Prairie King notoriously difficult in Stardew Valley.
The creator of Stardew Valley, ConcernedApe, has revealed that he has finally earned 100% completion of the achievements of the game. This came as an amusing surprise to many, considering that he's the sole developer and responsible for creating the final achievement that was holding him back in Stardew Valley all this time.
Stardew Valley's biggest achievement, Perfection, requires a lot of work to unlock, with a special cutscene at The Summit to enjoy for one's work. However, in order to earn Perfection, players don't actually have to do every single thing in the game. In this case, it wasn't Perfection that was holding ConcernedApe back, but an arcade game within the game.
Stardew Valley Player's Hard-Earned Perfection Cutscene Has Weird Glitch
A Stardew Valley player puts in the work to earn the game's Perfection summit cutscene, but its appearance isn't what players expect due to a glitch.
Over on his social media account, Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone revealed that he had gotten 100% completion of Stardew Valley, finishing all 49 available in the title. As it turns out, the dev had just one achievement that was still holding him back, that being Fector's Challenge. Fector's Challenge requires players to beat Stardew Valley's in-game shooter Journey of the Prairie King without dying even once. The dev finally got it done on October 25, 2024, eight years after Stardew Valley originally released to the public.
Stardew Valley's Arcade Games are No Joke
Most Stardew Valley diehards will understand why it was so hard for ConcernedApe to clear his own final achievement. Journey of the Prairie King and Stardew Valley's other arcade game, Junimo Kart, are notorious for being difficult to get through. Players often get their first glance at JotPK in Abigail's 2-heart event, where it quickly becomes clear that the game even frustrates the NPCs. As such, players have come out of the woodwork to congratulate ConcernedApe for completing it, with many joking about how the developer of the title would surely be impressed at his efforts.
While there's some good advice available on how to beat Journey of the Prairie King, ConcernedApe had some of his own suggestions for fans. He recommends not using nukes in order to earn the most money possible, and then buying the best items possible, with priority first going to ammo, then the revolver, then boots. Finally, he recommends holding onto a machine gun powerup for the final showdown with Fector so that the player can destroy him before he has a chance to do anything.
Players who are still struggling with this achievement can take comfort in knowing that even its creator had problems with it. With his advice, getting every achievement in Stardew Valley may be worth another shot.
