A Stardew Valley player has shared the painful mistake that they made after failing to read an item description. The result of their mistake is a ton of casks they can't use, serving as a reminder to take care before crafting things enmasse in Stardew Valley.
Players have a lot of options for creating artisan products in Stardew Valley. Cheese, wine, and beer can fetch high prices if they're prepared correctly, and one option to increase their value is to put them in a cask. However, there are strict rules on how casks can be used, and this fan missed noticing it until it was too late.
Stardew Valley Player Shares Little-Known Fish Tank Detail
A Stardew Valley player was pleasantly surprised to find and share one little-known details that involves the game's fish tanks.
On Reddit, Stardew Valley fan gniessgrl shared their experience of making 50 casks, only to realize that they have to be placed in a basement in order to be used. Their shared screenshot shows their character standing by the bus stop outside of Pelican Town, looking at the dozens of casks they set up to use the largely free space. Their character actively tries to put a bottle of wine into the cask to age it, when the game informs them that they can't use it unless it's in a cellar. The fan said they were "devastated" due to the time they spent planning the layout for the casks, and were flummoxed on what to do with the excess of them due to a lack of space in their basement.
Amused Stardew Valley Fans Share Advice
Those in the comments have been chuckling at the sight of the screenshot, pointing out how important it is to pay attention to the description of items. However, some were able to provide helpful advice on what they could do to not have totally wasted their time. One option would be for them to deconstruct the casks to get their 20 wood back, but unfortunately, it doesn't return the rarer hardwood to the player. Another option would be to relocate the casks. While the player lacks enough space in their basement for them, fans pointed out that they could construct a Stardew Valley co-op partner cabin and put them in their basement, instead.
While an unfortunate mistake, it highlights the community's ongoing commitment to help one another in the indie farming sim. The idea gniessgrl had wasn't exactly a bad one, as several players have showcased using the same space and the connected tunnel to store kegs, which do work when placed outdoors like this. Those who are lacking space on their farms or in their homes might want to consider utilizing the space as well. The only caveat is to make sure to leave space for NPC pathing, or else players may end up witnessing Pam crashing through and destroying objects in her wake as she approaches the bus.
