Star Wars Outlaws had a bit of a rough launch back in August. Along with a middling critical reception, Star Wars Outlaws' debut was plagued with technical issues, from light visual glitches to game-breaking bugs. One of the more infamous issues from Star Wars Outlaws' launch was it requiring some PS5 players to completely delete their save file in order to fix some severe technical bugs, thus resetting their progress back to the beginning of the game.

Star Wars Outlaws has come quite a long way since then. Over the last few months, Ubisoft has carefully listened to fan feedback and has implemented a range of updates that have gradually improved Star Wars Outlaws' gameplay experience. But all previous patches pale in comparison to what's just come to Star Wars Outlaws, with the most recent Title Update adding a wealth of fixes and new features that go a long way in fixing some players' biggest complaints.

Star Wars Outlaws' Latest Update Makes Some Major Improvements

Star Wars Outlaws' 1.4.0 Update Changes How Stealth Works

While Star Wars Outlaws' 1.4.0 Title Update brings a bevy of changes to the game, some of its biggest revolve around the title's controversial stealth system. As of this recent update, many of Star Wars Outlaws' stealth sequences will no longer end in an immediate mission failure if the player is spotted. Additionally, the player is no longer forced into stealth when exploring syndicate-controlled locations.

These changes go hand-in-hand with Star Wars Outlaws' new and improved detection system. Players will now be notified when an enemy begins to detect them. Players will also be warned via a visual indicator if the takedown they're about perform will alert nearby guards. A handful of stealth fixes have also been added with this latest Title Update, such as whistling no longer attracting just one guard.

Star Wars Outlaws Now Rewards Strategic Shooting

Another swathe of improvements has come to Star Wars Outlaws' combat with this recent Title Update. Enemies now have weakpoints, and if players take the time to shoot those areas it'll result in body-part-specific death animations. The responsiveness of Kay's blaster has also been adjusted, with its recoil and spread being tweaked to reward more precise aiming. Headshots also deal more damage now.

Enemy AI has also been improved across the board. Star Wars Outlaws' enemies will now try to behave more strategically in combat, using cover far more often than they would pre-update. Enemies will also now stagger when an explosion goes off near them.

Kay can now holster two-handed weapons while on a speeder, and while climbing and grappling.

Star Wars Outlaws' 1.4.0 Update Has Improved The Game's Visuals

A sizable complaint of Star Wars Outlaws upon its initial launch was its occasionally muddy visuals, especially during in-game dialogue sequences. This 1.4.0 Title Update addresses this issue as well, adding new facial animations to in-game dialogue and refining the visuals of cinematics.

Star Wars Outlaws Has Just Added Its First Story DLC

If all those improvements weren't enough for fans to finally jump on board Star Wars Outlaws, then its newest DLC might be the thing to get them over that line. Star Wars Outlaws' first story DLC, 'Wild Card', sees Kay Vess teaming up with the iconic Lando Calrissian to win a high-stakes Sabacc tournament.
