Massive Entertainment's upcoming adventure Star Wars Outlaws includes a host of interesting characters, but one Droid in particular, ND-5, has caught the attention of fans, who they have now officially named as "hot". Set in sprawling locations and areas that serve up key events between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, players will get the chance to slide into the shoes of scoundrel Kay Vess, who will be taking the reins in Star Wars Outlaws as she comes up against dangerous villains and heart-pumping missions in the galaxy’s criminal underworld.
Thankfully for Vess, she doesn't need to take on the treacherous planet of Tatooine, as well as new locales such as Toshara, alone. Nix, an adorable yet cheeky salamander-like creature who serves as Kay's pet and companion, gives the protagonist a helping hand in times of trouble by fetching weapons and causing distractions so Vess can slip past enemies. Players will also meet other characters, like Vail the bounty hunter, Lady Qi'ra, and Jabba the Hutt, but there's one Driod who joins Vess' crew that has the internet falling head over heels in love.
Star Wars Outlaws Director Names Huge PlayStation Hit as Major Open-World Inspiration
This stunning PlayStation title is a big inspiration for Star Wars Outlaws director Julian Gerighty while creating its open world.
As reported by Games Hub, ND-5, from Star Wars Outlaws has seemingly captured the hearts of fans all across the internet who have turned a little feral towards the Commando droid. Originally built by the Separatists during the Clone Wars. ND-5 will join Kay Vess’ crew for a very important heist. Speaking about the surprising amount of thirst ND-5 has been receiving, Khavari said, "Anyone who tells you this was anticipated is lying. I feel very confident in saying that. I still remember the tweets started to pop up, and I texted [Rincon] like ‘Jay, get ready’.” Jay Rincon plays ND-5 in Star Wars Outlaws and loved getting to grips with the battle-weary droid, but even he can't get his head around how fans are falling for the sci-fi character.
Star Wars Outlaw's ND-5 Becomes The Internet's “Hot Droid”
“I looked and was like, ‘oh my goodness, what is happening?'” expressed Rincon. "Within hours, the idea of the hot droid took off faster than Kay Vess’ speeder". Thankfully, Rincon has taken the outpouring of affection for ND-5 in his stride, but at the same time, he certainly doesn't agree with the "Hot Driod" statement from fans. “The word sexy, or anything like that, it was never used,” Rincon explained. “The artwork was brilliant, I was blown away when I first saw it and obviously that helped lead and guide what we ultimately have come up with … But there’s nothing sexy about sitting in the skintight suit with all the markers on, and that crazy fishnet.”
Discussing Star Wars Outlaw characters' appearance has been a bit of a sore subject as of late due to the harsh criticism Kay Vess received over whether she was attractive. The heated debate among players even went as far as describing her as "ugly," but the game's creative director came to her rescue by stating that Vess was designed to be an “approachable character,” and the studio's main focus was to make sure to create a great game for players to enjoy. However, one thing Star Wars Outlaw's narrative director, Navid Khavari, hadn't planned for was the outpour of love for the modified BX Commando droid, ND-5.
While players can explore planets like Tatooine, Cantonica, Kijimi, Akiva, and Toshara until their hearts are content, as well as experience a palette of colorful and familiar Star Wars worlds, taking a little downtime is also suggested by enjoying a host of Star Wars Outlaws' mini-games.
