Star Wars Outlaws protagonist Kay Vess may not have a lightsaber or Force powers, but she does have an assortment of skills at her disposal that can greatly benefit her and her partner in crime, Nix. Many of the most valuable abilities in the game are only accessible once Kay becomes familiar with the many experts across the galaxy, and after she fulfills the crafting requirements to add them to her arsenal.
Stealth is at the heart of Star Wars Outlaws, so players will rely more on skills that require quietly infiltrating bases and taking out enemies without being detected. One skill that will make Kay's life infinitely easier is the Slice Kit Upgrade, which makes breaching data ports far simpler. To get your hands on this, you will need to know how to get the Code Breaker chip in Star Wars Outlaws, as this is the key material needed to unlock this upgrade.
Star Wars Outlaws: How To Unlock The Smoke Bomb
The Smoke Bomb Compressor is one of many Expert upgrades players can make on their Star Wars Outlaws journey. Here's how to get it.
How To Unlock The Slice Kit Upgrade in Star Wars Outlaws
The Slice Kit upgrade in Star Wars Outlaws is an unlockable item that players can acquire after completing the intel mission for The Slicer and unlocking the Slicer Kit, which Kay can use to infiltrate door locks and other hackable elements of the game. With the Slice Kit upgrade, the Slicing Kit's energy is increased by two, and you can use energy to activate Jokers, which can fit into any slot to complete a puzzle sooner. To get the upgrade, players will need to acquire the following materials:
- One Code Breaker Chip
- Eight Chalcopyrite
- Three Direct-Energy Circuits
The last two components required for the Slice Kit upgrade are relatively easy to come by. Chalcopyrite is in abundance across the galaxy, meaning you'll find it lying around as you explore the different planets in Star Wars Outlaws. You have a chance of grabbing it every time you loot something, so make sure to grab all the resources you can, and send Nix to fetch the items out of reach. Direct-Energy Circuits are a bit rarer, but going into any faction-controlled area, like a base, will generally be rewarded with this resource. Both of these items can also be purchased from scavenger merchants. The Code Breaker Chip, however, can only be found in one spot, which requires a bit of work to get to.
How To Get The Code Breaker Chip in Star Wars Outlaws
Players will find the Code Breaker Chip located in the south-eastern part of Toshara, on the far eastern border of The Lost Steppe, as indicated on the map above. The part is in a hostile area guarded by syndicate soldiers, so you'll need to either outgun them, or sneak in and take them out one by one.
Once you arrive at the site, you'll need to take out the various guards patrolling the area, after which you can climb the wall to the left of the large open tent. Once over it, follow the path until you reach the entrance to a cave, take out the enemies guarding the opening, and proceed inside the cave.
Once inside the cave, you'll discover that the space is being used as a syndicate base. You'll need to clear the room for enemies, which you can choose to do either stealthily or loudly. Some enemies will drop grenade launchers, so if you opt for the latter, then these will help dispatch adversaries quickly. Once cleared, head to the next floor, either via the stairs along the edge of the room, or by using one of the ladders.
At the top floor, you'll find a clearing in the middle of the room, which is attached to a small bridge and a closed door. Proceed through the door and into a new room. In this room is the Shipjacker Workshop treasure, as well as a data port that you can slice. Use the Slice Kit to open the door, then grab the Code Breaker chip in the container on the left side of the room as you walk in.
If you have already acquired the other necessary materials, you will be able to unlock the Slice Kit upgrade from the Abilities menu, which will increase the energy cap for your Slicer.
