As players make their way through some of the tougher syndicate areas in Star Wars Outlaws, they'll notice that they don't have the ability to use takedowns on the heavy Elite enemies. This is also true of the Deathtroopers, the Empire's high-end special forces that are called in when Kay reaches the maximum wanted level. Luckily for Kay, there is a special item that, when found, allows Kay to perform takedowns on Elite enemies in Star Wars Outlaws.
Star Wars Outlaws Main Quest List (All Main Story Missions)
There are 21 main story quests in Star Wars Outlaws, with each one typically taking around half an hour to complete.
The item that Kay will want to acquire is called the Electro-Shock Prod. This item fundamentally changes Kay's ability to utilize stealth in even the most dangerous environments. Instead of finding this item in the world, Kay must unlock a specific Expert, gaining access to their list of abilities. This guide will explain when and where Kay can unlock the Expert, and how to unlock the Electro-Shock Prod in Star Wars Outlaws.
How to Get the Electro-Shock Prod in Star Wars Outlaws
The first step to getting the Electro-Shock Prod in Star Wars Outlaws is to unlock The Scavenger, Temmin Wexely. This Expert is found on Akiva, and is revealed as part of "The Droidsmith" main questline. Once Kay completes the first large section of the main story, and the major heist at the center of the plot is planned, then she can choose to go after whichever member of her team she wants. The game suggests that Kay go to Kijimi first, but it is perfectly fine to go to Akiva.
Once you have started the Droidsmith's main quest, keep going until Gedeek mentions the fact that you'll need to modify your speeder to run on water. This will lead to Temmin Wexely's Expert quest, "The Scavenger." Completing his quest will unlock the Scavenger's ability list, which includes the Electro-Shock Prod.
Crafting the Electro-Shock Prod:
To unlock the Electro-Shock Prod, Kay will have to meet three criteria. While the game presents it as unlocking an ability, the method is similar to what most gamers would consider crafting. You need to find three separate items, one of them incredibly rare, then put them together to create the tool. The three items you'll need are:
-
Electro-Shock Prod
-
- NL-02 Charge Emitter
- Chalcopyrite x 15
- Ion Cell x 5
Ion Cells are found in many of the Smuggler's Cache's on Akiva. Whenever your Holotracker begins to glow purple, make sure to follow the signal to the cache. Chalcopyrite can be found all over Akiva, and at several merchants.
How to Get the NL-02 Charge Emitter in Star Wars Outlaws
While Chacopyrite and Ion Cells can be purchased from various merchants and in multiple locations throughout the game world, there is only one place where Kay can find the NL-02 Charge Emitter. One of the more unique elements of Star Wars Outlaws is the Intel Chain mechanic that is created for the rare parts needed for many of the game's abilities. Here, once Temmin Wexely is unlocked, head to the abilities section and look for the Electro-Shock Prod ability. When you hover over the NL-02 Charge Emitter, you'll get a hint about its location. You can head to the Journal and find it in the Key Part Intel section as well.
This will take you to a small island on the lake that makes up Akiva's Great Basin. You'll notice that it is controlled by the Empire, meaning that reputation level will not help you here. The island as a whole is called Excavation Site 12, and is built similar to most Imperial camps in the game.
There are several chests at the site, so it can be a bit tricky to discover which one contains the emitter. In this case, the chest you are looking for is not the most heavily guarded on the island. It is likely you'll find a cave kaycard, and while you should pick it up, it won't help now. You want to find a tent that sits very close to the center of the island. On the map, it is immediately below the Imperial Terminal symbol, where you lower Kay's wanted level, and directly to the left of the icon that marks the island's name. Head into this small tent and override the lock on the chest. Here you will find the NL-02 Charge Emitter.
- Once you have all three items, the game will notify you that the Electro-Shock Prod ability is ready to unlock.
Once you have the Electro-Shock Prod unlocked, you will be able to takedown droids and elite enemies. Simply approach them from stealth, just as you would with normal stealth takedowns.
