Back in 2019, no one quite knew what to expect from Respawn Entertainment's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Before its release, the studio was only really known for first-person shooters Titanfall and Apex Legends, so an action-adventure set within the galaxy far, far away felt like it was completely out of leftfield. But, upon release, players were met with one of the best Star Wars adventures to date. And after blowing players away with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the studio took it to incredible new heights with 2023's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

Through these two games, players have gotten to follow Cal Kestis as he explores what it means to be a Jedi while also combating the vile Galactic Empire. While there is no release date yet, players will be able to see that story come to its ultimate conclusion with a third game sometime in the future. The anticipation for that final title is immense, but even though it will bring Cal Kestis' journey to an end, the Star Wars Jedi franchise should just be getting started.

Star Wars Jedi Can Continue Without Cal Kestis

Nothing Says Star Wars Jedi Has to Follow Cal's Journey

While there is always the chance that Cal Kestis appears in a different Star Wars project down the line, Respawn has made it pretty clear that this third game will be the end of Star Wars Jedi. Practically nothing is known about the actual story, but it does not sound like the studio is planning to alter its finale plans at all. However, even if Respawn has no intention of continuing the series, it really should not be the end of the brand.

So far, there is nothing about the Star Wars Jed i brand that says it needs to follow Cal Kestis through the galaxy. The current story revolves around him, and the studio has painted him as the series protagonist, but the franchise title itself could mean literally anyone. The galaxy is filled to the brim with Jedi just waiting to be explored, and Respawn's Star Wars Jedi brand could be the perfect place to do just that. As long as it maintains the heart and charm of what has come before, it could lead to an extraordinary series of adventures for Star Wars fans to get lost in for years to come.

There Are So Many Unique Characters Star Wars Jedi Could Explore Further

After the conclusion of Cal Kestis' arc, the fourth Star Wars Jedi game could simply explore another brand-new original Jedi. This Jedi could also be fighting against the Galactic Empire, they could be saving planets during the Clone Wars, or they could even be coming face-to-face with the First Order. If the studio wanted to expand past that, it could tell the story of someone during the High Republic or fan-favorite Old Republic. And if that were not of interest to it, the studio could even forge ahead in a never-before-seen era. No matter where in the Star Wars galaxy the story is set, there are likely Jedi waiting to be explored.

Future Star Wars Jedi games could also further expand upon various characters that fans have met throughout the franchise. The likes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars introduced viewers to a plethora of characters that could make for some great protagonists, with some barely getting more than an episode or two to shine. Along with that, characters from Luke's failed Jedi Order could also lead to fantastic tales, which could really help expand the sequel trilogy in the process.

Just because Cal Kestis' journey is ending does not mean that Star Wars Jedi needs to as well. There are so many Jedi across the Star Wars universe that could shine in their very own game and Respawn has created the perfect way to do just that. And if the concept is left to just gather dust, it would feel like a massive wasted opportunity to build something truly special.
