After years of waiting and an untimely delay, the much-anticipated Star Wars Jedi: Survivor releases in just a few days. Initial trailers for the game left the fate of the Mantis crew, outside of Cal Kestis and BD-1, in question. However, recent ones have confirmed that they were off doing missions of their own. Whether or not the entire crew will get back together for Survivor is still undetermined, but the early looks at the game appear to be promising.
As the sequel to 2019’s hit Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the new game will have a lot to live up to. One of the fan-favorite elements of the original game was the different cosmetic options for Cal, BD-1, the Mantis, and Cal’s lightsaber. Survivor looks to have even more customizable options, with the game’s different versions providing a few right off the bat. Star Wars fans looking to get their hands on the new game will have two different options to choose between when it debuts on April 28th.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Standard Edition
The Standard Edition is available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC for the standard next-gen price of $69.99. Jedi: Survivor is only releasing on next-gen consoles, so Xbox One and PS4 owners will have to upgrade their consoles to play the sequel. This edition only comes with the game itself. However, if gamers preorder the Standard Edition before Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s official release date, they also get the game’s preorder bonus content.
The preorder bonuses include the Hermit Cosmetic outfit, the Hermit Lightsaber set for Cal’s blade, and the Combustion Blaster set skin for Cal’s new gun. The Hermit collection is meant to mimic Obi-Wan Kenobi’s apparel in his titular show which debuted on Disney+ in 2022, giving fans a familiar look to pair with Cal and BD-1. While none of the cosmetics affect gameplay, Star Wars fans will love to see an outfit resembling the beloved Jedi Master.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Deluxe Edition
For gamers looking to get some more unique cosmetics, the Deluxe Edition could be what they are looking for. The Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Deluxe Edition is also available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC for $20 more than the Standard Edition, or $89.99 total. The Deluxe Edition gets all the benefits of the Standard Edition preorder bonus, provided it’s purchased ahead of the official release date, with a collection of its own added perks.
The first cosmetic set you get is the Galactic Hero Cosmetic Pack. This set gives players the Scoundrel cosmetic, the Rugged BD-1 cosmetic, and the DL-44 Blaster set. The collection is meant to resemble Han Solo’s look from the original Star Wars trilogy, with his infamous vest and outlaw style. BD-1’s cosmetic essentially gives the droid a color scheme that closely matches Han’s clothes from the trilogy, and the DL-44 is, of course, Han’s iconic blaster.
On top of that, the Deluxe Edition also provides players with the New Hero Cosmetic Pack. This collection contains the Rebel Hero Cosmetic, the BD-Astro BD-1 Cosmetic, and the Rebel Hero Lightsaber set. The New Hero Pack is meant to resemble Star Wars’ original Jedi Luke Skywalker’s look throughout the original trilogy. The Rebel Hero Cosmetic gives Cal Luke’s famous yellow jacket from A New Hope, the BD-1 cosmetic gives BD a color scheme similar to R2-D2, Luke’s astromech droid companion, and the new lightsaber set takes elements of each of Luke’s blades and combines them into a single look for Cal’s lightsaber.
Again, none of these cosmetics offer any gameplay advantages, but getting these exclusive skins for Cal and BD-1 honoring the legacy of the original trilogy is plenty of incentive. With the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi on the same date as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s release, the game is giving long-time Star Wars fans another way to honor the story that started the franchise.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on April 28, 2023.
