Many Star Wars Jedi: Survivor players are finding the game’s scavenger droids annoying, and it turns out this was intentional. Ever since it launched a couple of weeks ago, fans have been diving into Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which continues the story of Cal Kestis as he searches for a hidden sanctuary planet from the time of the High Republic, and fights against both the Empire and a rogue Jedi named Dagan Gera. Most of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s enemies are flesh-and-blood Imperial Soldiers or Bedlam Raiders (who have allied themselves with Gera), but Cal faces off against a wide range of hostile creatures and droids as well. One less-hostile type of machine players encounter in their travels is a small red scavenger droid that roams the new Jedi: Survivor planet Koboh. If the player can catch one of these mischievous robots, they will be rewarded an achievement, but this proves easier said than done as the droid quickly takes off running and burrows itself into the ground if Cal gets too close. Players have been sharing their own accounts of being annoyed by the scavenger droids in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, but this is exactly what developer Respawn had in mind while creating them. In a recent post on Twitter, Jedi: Survivor game designer Mitchell F Wolfe noted that he designed “or at least managed” every encounter with these droids in the game with the express purpose of annoying players with their antics. In fact, he jokes that he takes offense when players aren’t annoyed by them.
Fans have been sharing their own (unsuccessful) attempts to capture one of these pesky scavengers, as well as asking Wolfe about other difficult encounters in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. These include the grueling Force Tears challenges, which have Cal battle a difficult group of enemies under a time limit or placed at some kind of disadvantage. Wolfe says that he only designed a few of these side activities, while the rest were created by the other Encounter Directors on his team.
One Star Wars Jedi: Survivor side activity Wolfe prides himself on is the troublesome scavenger droids of Koboh, which have been irritating players since the game’s release. This is what he and his team intended for them all along, and fans have shared their stories of encountering and trying to trap these headache-inducing robots to no avail in between challenging the forces of the dark side.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
