8 Lonni Jung

The Man Who Fed the Rebel Alliance Information, Killed to Hide it All

lonni jung
  • Played by: Robert Emms
  • Died in: Season 2, Episode 10 “Make It Stop”

Lonni Jung was a Lieutenant Supervisor of the Galactic Empire who served in the ISB. While his fellow officers saw him as loyal, he was actually a mole for Luthen Rael and became an integral part of the Rebel Alliance, even if he did not know the extent of his importance. Lonni Jung sacrificed so much for the Rebel Alliance, providing them with integral information, even at the risk of his own life and the lives of his wife and daughter.

Without Lonni, the Rebel Alliance would not have known about Galen Erso or the Death Star before it was too late, but Lonni’s reward is a quick death from Luthen to ensure that there are no half-measures that could get back to him. Killed on a bench in Coruscant, his name etched into that of traitors by the Empire, Lonni deserved better for his sacrifices.

7 Karis Nemik

A Freedom Fighter Whose Death Echoed with His Manifesto

Star Wars Andor Nemik Alex Lawther
Star Wars Andor Nemik Alex Lawther
  • Played by: Alex Lawther
  • Died in: Season 1, Episode 6 “The Eye”

Karis Nemik was not cut out to be a freedom fighter, but he proved his bravery that he would try such a thing. Karis Nemik was a talented writer, one who’s manifesto would send ripples across a galaxy far, far away to inspire those to stand up and rebel against the Empire, but it’s a manifesto that he would never see reach the masses due to the injuries he sustained on a mission to steal the Galactic Empire’s payroll.

Nemik was fatally injured during the mission, crushed by a large crate of credits during the escape. While Nemik held on to see a doctor and gave Cassian Andor his manifesto, he was unable to survive his injuries. His drawn-out death and the way he was inspired as a martyr serve as an important stepping stone for the early days of the Rebel Alliance.

6 Syril Karn

A Loyal Inspector of the Empire, Betrayed and Forgotten

syril on ghorman
  • Played by: Kyle Soller
  • Died in: Season 2, Episode 8 “Who Are You?”

Syril Karn is one of the most interesting characters to come out of Andor. From his complex relationship with his mother, to his ambitions and desires to rise through the ranks of the Galactic Empire. Syril might seem like he’s above his station, and far too much of a stickler for his own good, but at the end of the day, Syril doesn’t want to see innocent and good people hurt. Syril only wants to obey the laws and see others follow.

6 Lingering Questions We Have After The End Of Andor Season 2

While Andor ends on a strong note and sets the stage for Rogue One, there are a few questions that remain unanswered about the show's story.

It's debatable, but Syril was innocent. Syril was a man who just wanted to do his job and remain in the service of the Empire. Yet, Syril’s life was forever changed when his girlfriend revealed a staged protest on Ghorm was set to massacre its population. Having no part in genocide, Syril flees to be with its people, only to find himself fighting Cassian, the man who started this all those years ago. Even though Syril was ready to pull the trigger on Andor, he was shot in the head by Carro Rylanz, left as a forgotten victim of the Ghorman Massacre.

5 Kino Loy

A Man Who Helped the Prisoners of the Empire Escape, Only to Drown in Victory

kino loy surrenders
  • Played by: Andy Serkis
  • Died in: Season 1, Episode 10 “One Way Out” (debatable)

Kino Loy seemed like a hard-as-nails floor manager, devoted to serving his time in a labor prison of the Galactic Empire, building strange technology that he would never know its purpose for. Kino Loy’s commitment to his role showed his eagerness to get out of prison, but when he discovered that his sentence would be one for life, he helped stage an escape plan to overthrow the prison and free the people inside, including himself.

Kino Loy’s rousing speech that ends in a tearjerking one way out is only further sunken into sadness through the victory of escape. As countless prisoners jump into the freeing waters below, Kino Loy reveals to Cassian that he cannot swim, but the two are quickly separated by the rush of people. Since Kino cannot swim, it’s very likely that he drowned during the escape, but there is still hope that someone helped get him to shore, but that hope is a fraction of what could be reality.

Maarva’s care of Andor ran deep, and his rebellious nature scared her, especially as her health continued to deteriorate in her old age.

Bix and Syril in Andor
8 Best Characters In Andor Season 2, Ranked

Characters are the bread and butter of Andor, and while Season 1 set them up, Season 2 made sure their arcs all paid off in spectacular fashion.

With such a revered presence on Ferrix, it’s no surprise that her death would hit hard and suddenly. Her declining health was a factor in her death, but knowing she was gone still hurt those who knew of her, which is why her rousing monologue that she recorded for her funeral gave the people of Ferrix the spark that they needed to ignite a rebellion and fight back against the Empire in a tearjerking act of defiance from the grave.

3 Brasso

Cassian’s Closest Friend, Killed for Defying the Empire

brasso at the funeral
  • Played by: Joplin Sibtain
  • Died in: Season 2, Episode 3 “Harvest”

Brasso is immensely loyal as a friend to Cassian Andor. He’s a man who can be trusted, and one who will always stick his neck out to protect those close to him. Brasso’s friendship with Cassian has not been without risk. Whether it’s fighting against the Empire on Ferrix or protecting Bix on Mina-Rau, he will do his part to ensure Cassian has a successful mission while staging his own efforts of rebellion from the ground.

Poor Brasso doesn’t get to see the beauty of Yavin-4, as Brasso is killed early in Season 2 after being discovered by Stormtroopers on Mina-Rau. In an effort to evade them, he is shot and killed, but not before ensuring the safety of his friend, Kallen, by acting as if Kallen betrayed him. Even in the face of death, Brasso tries to ensure the safety of others.

2 Cinta Kaz

A Loyal Rebel, Taken by a Rogue Blaster Shot

Vel Sartha and Cinta Kaz in Andor
  • Played by: Varada Sethu
  • Died in: Season 2, Episode 6 “What A Festive Evening”

Cinta Kaz was an underappreciated member of the Rebel Alliance who often worked with Luthen Rael and helped him across the galaxy to disrupt Imperial activity. From missions that stole credits from the Imperial payroll to evading the ISB, Kaz was an essential member of Luthen’s team, and her talents spoke for themselves, which is what makes her death so unjust.

After finally reuniting with her lover, Vel Sartha, the two would share in what they hoped would be one mission of many more. Unfortunately, this mission on Ghorm would see Kaz struck by a rogue blaster shot from one of her allies, and she died instantly. Unable to process her wound, or say goodbye to the woman she loved – a vile consequence of war.

1 Luthen Rael

The Most Important Figure in the Rebellion Gives His Life for the Cause

Luthen in Andor
  • Played by: Stellan Skarsgard
  • Died in: Season 2, Episode 10 "Make It Stop"

No man has given as much as Luthen Rael for the rebellion. Luthen gave his entire life for a cause, knowing that he would never see the end of the Galactic Empire. Luthen was ruthless, a killer who dared not take any half-measures. If Luthen had to kill, then he would. Nothing would stop this man from ensuring that the Rebellion got the resources it needed, and he seemed to have friends everywhere in the politics and institutions of the Empire itself.

Yet, Luthen doesn’t receive the ending he deserves, as he is caught by the ISB. Knowing their torture methods, and knowing that he is too valuable to be alive, Luthen takes his own life. Luthen is a character so devoted to the cause and so willing that he happily took his own life to ensure that the Rebel Alliance could stand a fighting chance, knowing he wouldn’t live to see it.
