How To Get The Sword Of Marvels In Star Ocean: The Second Story R
The Sword of Marvels is a weapon that sounds like it's from an 80s cartoon series, like The Masters of the Universe or The Thundercats. In Claude's hands, it is an effective sword that will make him play like He-Man and Lion-O, defeating powerful foes on the battlefield. To get the sword early, players must obtain an item called the Goodie Box. Opening a Goodie Box will give the party three randomized gifts.
There is an element of luck to getting the Sword of Marvels, but opening the box near a save point and reloading the save if it fails is the best way to obtain the Sword of Marvels early. There are several methods to get the Goodie Box. Players should use the following for the best results:
Fishing At Harley
Goodie Boxes can be found at random, but one of the most reliable methods to get one is by fishing in the harbor town called Harley. Harley is northeast of Krosse City and east of Marze.
Players can stand next to the fishing enthusiast named Reel and cast a line into the water to catch fish. It is luck-dependent, but if players do this repeatedly, Claude should eventually obtain a Goodie Box. Fishing is the most reliable way to get multiple Goodie Boxes in Star Ocean: The Second Story R.
Trading Fish
Staying in the town of Harley, speak to Reel near the docks and select Trade Fish. Scroll down the list, and the party can trade a Rabbit Sunfish, an Amber Perch, and a Star Ruby Eye for a Goodie Box.
Crafting A Goodie Box
Crafting a Goodie Box is another excellent way of getting the party's hands on the Marvel Sword. To make a Goodie Box, the party needs Magic Clay, which can be purchased from The Newt's Eye item shop In Marze. Marze is northeast of Krosse City. Players can use Fast Travel or walk there on foot after arriving in Krosse.
With Magic Clay in the inventory, the party must invest Skill Points in the following IC/Speciality and Skills:
- Sketching to level up Art
- Aesthetics to level up Art.
Alternate leveling between the Aesthetics and the Sketching skills to level up the party's Art IC/Speciality to level 4. With the required skills and the Magic Clay, players can now craft a Goodie Box with the following steps:
- Press the Triangle button on the PlayStation or the X button on the Switch.
- Highlight and select IC/Speciality.
- Select Art.
- Highlight Create Strange Goods.
- Press the X button on the PlayStation or the B button on the Switch twice to create an item. Again, making a Goodie Box relies on luck, as five other items can be crafted under Strange Goods.
Stealing A Goodie Box
Players can steal a Goodie Box from an NPC in Marze, northeast of Krosse City. For this, Claude will need the Pickpocketing skill. The NPC is an older gentleman standing near the House of Restoration Inn in Marze. Save the game, then approach him and select L1 on the PlayStation or L on the Switch to try and pickpocket him. The game allows three attempts, but if they all fail, players can reload the save to try again.
All methods require luck and reloading saves, but it shouldn't take too long to find the Sword of Marvels this way. Moreover, collecting Goodie Boxes is an excellent way for the party to get their hands on other rare and overpowered equipment.
