In Star Ocean: The Second Story R, players will want to collect armor, materials, weapons, the in-game money called Fol, and loads of other objects. These will allow each character to do more damage, take less damage, or maybe create some artwork or other objects.

To ensure that players get all the items they need, they will need plenty of money, but they might also have to resort to stealing. While this might seem like a bad idea, pickpocketing can be both lucrative and great for building a good party, just so long as the player handles it correctly.

How to Pickpocket in Star Ocean: The Second Story R

In order to pickpocket in Star Ocean: The Second Story R, players will need to do several things. The first is to purchase the Thief's Glove, an item that appears in several early-game cities, including Harley. It costs 40,000 Fol but is well worth the investment.

Next, a character will need to have the innate ability called Nimble Fingers. There are two main ways to get Nimble Fingers; one is to start the game with it. The playable characters in Star Ocean 2 have a random assortment of talents, so if players aren't too far into the game, starting from the beginning might not be a bad choice.

If no characters were lucky enough to start with it, Nimble Fingers can also be learned by making things anytime during a playthrough of Star Ocean: The Second Story R. Nimble Fingers can be learned through crafting items with the Crafting IC or the Machinist IC in the IC/Specialty menu. Keep making things until the desired talent is unlocked. After getting Nimble Fingers, players will want to dump some points into both Courage and Poker Face, both of which cost SP and make it easier to steal things without anyone catching on.

Once pickpocketing is unlocked, it's time to start stealing. While it's lucrative, players will have to be careful. Not only is the player's party limited to the number of times they can steal in a location, but pickpocketing will also lower their relationship status with the other Star Ocean: The Second Story R characters. This can be fixed with the right combination of books and good timing, but it is something to keep an eye out for when looking to swipe some loot. Here are some of the things worth the cost of becoming a thief.

  • Marze Village has an old man near the inn that has a Goodie Box. It will give a random item.
