Some quests in Star Ocean: The Divine Force aren't clear on where to locate specific items to complete them. One such mission, the Delryk Oddball, requires the party to find five tattered robes for an elderly craftsman in Delryk Village. The quest becomes available as soon as the party arrives at the town, but the means to complete it is unclear and impossible without unlocking the Crafting skill in the Item Creation menu. Moreover, Star Ocean fans must locate the quest giver hidden in an alley in the village's backstreets.

The party will arrive in Delryk Village in Chapter One. There are several early quests that the party can complete. Most require them to clear out bandits, locate a lost cat, etc. However, the Delryk Oddball quest demands the party utilize and "fail" at Crafting in the Item Creation menu and create five useless armor sets called Tattered Robes. To find the craftsman for the Delryk Oddball quest, head to the alleyway marked on the map above.

Accept the man's request and continue with Star Ocean: The Divine Force's story until Elena joins the party at the beginning of Chapter Two after the scene in the Shrine. After the party has unlocked Compounding with Welch in Chapter One, they set in motion a series of fetch quests for Welch at specific moments in the game's story. The protagonist will get a message from Welch Vineyard to come and see her at her shop in Delryk.

Welch requests the party fetch her Five Fresh Sage to unlock the Crafting skill. If the party doesn't already have it in their inventory, it can be purchased from the shop in Delryk. With crafting unlocked, the party can now craft five Tattered Robes.

Crafting Tattered Robes In Star Ocean: The Divine Force

The randomized nature of Item Creation means that Star Ocean fans will likely need to attempt this task several times. Use the following steps, so the party isn't wasting materials and Fol in the Crafting menu:

Before attempting to Craft Tattered Robes, the party must buy Scruffy Rags from the shop Delryk at 180 Fol each.
After buying several - around ten should be enough - save the game.
Open the Item Creation menu and access the new Crafting skill.
Select Laeticia and choose Scruffy Rag.
It may take several attempts to get the Tattered Robes. Reload the saved game if the party runs out of Scruffy Rags.
Save the game after every successful creation of the Tattered Robes - it doesn't matter if the set has bonus features, like the Tattered Robes + 2. The quest giver will accept the armor set in any condition.

That's everything needed to obtain the Tattered Robes in Star Ocean: The Divine Force. Remember to check in on the crafter later, as he will have more quests for the party.
