Star Citizen is an awesome sandbox that gives players the opportunity to experience a unique sci-fi star system that is unlike any other seen in the gaming realm. With an almost unlimited landscape and customization, the community is still diving into the secrets this system has to offer.
The game features numerous ship manufacturers from the high-class luxury of Origin to the industrial practicality of Drake. Although these are all unique to Star Citizen, some ships will seem familiar to those who enjoy the Star Wars franchise. This guide will show off 8 ships that share similarities with the design style of the Star Wars universe from their profile to their overall feel.
Mercury Star Runner - Millennium Falcon
The Crusader Mercury Star Runner takes inspiration from a few ships in science fiction. Fans of Star Citizen have compared this ship to the Millennium Falcon, an iconic ship from the Star Wars franchise.
It's cargo running capabilities make it a great ship for deliveries and trading across the Stanton system. The MSR also features a small hold for illegal goods. When scanned by security, they will not pick up the illegal cargo and will allow the players to continue trading.
For this reason, it has been coined the Millennium Falcon of Star Citizen. It's shape also resembles the Falcon with its asymmetry and radar dish on top of the hull.
Anvil Carrack - TIE Interceptor And Star Destroyer
The Carrack is one of the "best" ships in Star Citizen with high level modules such as a hanger, rover bay and medical bay. It takes a lot of aspects from Star Wars ships and combines them into one cohesive design.
The side panels pay homage to the TIE fighter / Interceptor seen throughout the Skywalker saga. Although the size of the Carrack is far larger, it's landing gear still utilizes these structures to help stabilize the ship.
The Large rear engines are often compared to the Empire's Star Destroyer as seen above.
If the player is looking for a ship that may share similar capabilities to that of the Star Destroyer, the Carrack is a great option. With awesome firepower, speed and exploration capabilities there is little the Carrack can't do.
RSI Scorpius - X Wing
The X-Wing is the most iconic ship from Star Wars, with it's iconic profile and appearance throughout the films and series.
The RSI Scorpius takes this X shape format and builds upon the X chasis that derives from the Star Wars universe.
The Scorpius is far larger than the small fighter seen in Star Wars. With space for a gunner, the Star Citizen variant can dish out lots more damage with additional weaponry, making it efficient in space combat.
This turret can change positions from the top to the bottom using a rail that wraps around the rear of the ship.
As one of the newer ships in Star Citizen, the community is still trying to find its place within the meta. With strong firepower and great maneuverability, it will be a prominent figure in the future of the game.
Origin 400i - Nubian Royal Starship
The 400i comes from the manufacturer Origin. This company develops high class ships with form over function being a key part of their development process.
This ship allows its passengers to fly through the star system with class, almost worthy to carry royal cargo.
One of the main similarities comes from the stairway that allows the passengers' entry. Having a stairway resembles an elevation to a higher level which is commonly seen in high-class craft.
The 400i also comes with a chrome paint which resembles the appearance of the Nubian ship in Star Wars. When seen at locations on the desert moon of Daymar, the similarities are endless from the feature in Episode I.
Drake Cutlass Black - Razor Crest
The Razer Crest has quickly become one of the most loved ships in the Star Wars franchise.
Many players in Star Citizen have been inspired by the Mandalorian series and the bounting hunter lifestyle. The Cutlass Black resembles the Razor Crest in more ways than one giving players the true Star Wars experience.
The extended engines at either side are the primary feature that bring these ships together. However, the cockpit and rear cargo hold are also very similar.
A solo player can take this ship into the system and undertake numerous activities to make a living, especially as one of the more affordable ships in game.
Drake Corsair - Imperial Shuttle
The Corsair is one of the new ships in Star Citizen. Its asymmetric design sets it apart from other ships in the verse as well as some awesome firepower and utility.
The folding wings are extremely similar to that of the imperial shuttle from the original Star Wars films. The shuttle is most well known for it's use by Darth Vader as a personal ship to fly whilst not in combat.
The Corsair is an awesome multi-crew ship that many players are wanting to get their hands on. In the 3.18 update, the Corsair will be available to purchase using in game credits rather than needing to use real money in the pledge store.
Although the exteriors of these ships share a lot of unique qualities, the interiors are vastly different with Drake using its dystopian design language which can be seen across the manufacturers other ships.
RSI Bengal - Republic Capital Ship
The Bengal is not yet available in Star Citizen, however, it has been featured during in-game events where players can get a good look at this awesome capital ship.
Its scale is hard to comprehend with a recommended crew of a few hundred players. This ship will feature heavily in Cloud Imperium's single player title "Squadron 42" which is expected to release early next year.
It will be interesting to see which gameplay loops and missions the RSI Bengal is most efficient at undertaking with it's extreme versatility.
The Bengal's scale, function and design make it comparable to the Republic Capital Ship which can be seen through the first 3 episodes of the Skywalker Saga.
The United Empire of Earth Navy (UEEN) is similar to that of the republic in Star Wars as they both serve to keep the peace of systems in the galaxy through unity and keeping the population safe and democratic.
Hopefully, as Star Citizen develops, we may see more ships take inspiration from Star Wars and other sci-fi franchise.
Star Citizen is available on PC.
