Spy x Family is heartwarming, hilarious, and just plain old fun. Here are some anime similar to the Spring 2022 show.

What Are Loid's Strengths and Weaknesses?

What Does Loid Do Right?

  • Prioritizes protecting Anya
  • Provides Anya with discipline and structure
  • Can be controlling when it comes to Anya's school work

As the original adopter of Anya before he met Yor, Loid most likely feels much more tied to Anya and ensuring she is successful. However, with this comes some issues, since he is sometimes more focused on the mission rather than giving Anya a good life.

Some of Loid's major weaknesses include his controlling nature, which comes directly from the fact that he is a spy and feels he needs to focus solely on the mission. This means he needs to ensure that Anya is successful at Eden Academy to protect the world from war. This means he often pressures her to study complicated concepts for school, even when she is clearly not understanding the content and even becomes visibly stressed. Because of this, it sometimes strains Loid's relationship with Anya as she feels pressured to achieve his unrealistic expectations. Loid can also be emotionally distant from Anya sometimes, due to his tragic past and having spent his entire life as a spy with little emotion required. Loid also often finds it incredibly difficult to understand Anya's emotions, and often struggles to interpret her actions and what they mean. He has essentially no experience with children, and having lost his own childhood himself, he doesn't have a lot to reference.

Despite these weaknesses, however, Loid has a lot of strengths when it comes to parenting Anya. He is an incredibly talented and respected spy, meaning he can do just about anything possible to ensure Anya's safety. Along with his incredible strength, Loid is also extremely resourceful and can find just about any way to solve a dangerous situation, even when in a time crunch. Since Anya often wanders and finds herself in unexpected situations, Loid is always there to make sure she is protected while still being able to complete his mission. Outside of making sure Anya is always safe, Loid also provides a structured environment for her, which is especially useful for her due to her psychic abilities often distracting her. With Loid supporting Anya, it is much easier for her to be successful in school, and she is able to follow his rules and expectations. This environment also makes her feel like she finally has a real family home.

Yor Forger And Her Elegant Stiletto Daggers (Spy x Family)
Spy x Family: Yor Forger's Name Pun, Explained

The Thorn Princess is the most dangerous assassin in Ostania, and while the moniker fits, her real name comes from simple but brilliant wordplay.

What Are Yor's Strengths and Weaknesses?

What Does Yor Do Right?

  • Has a natural ability to care for children
  • Easily expresses emotions and allows Anya to do the same
  • Can have visible insecurities

Yor comes into Anya's life soon after Loid, when the two decide to set up a fake marriage to protect both of their secret identities. Though Yor is completely new to the parenting game, she doesn't seem to have too much trouble picking it up.

Yor has a lot of strengths when it comes to taking care of Anya, which comes unexpectedly, even for herself. Yor is very caring and nurturing towards Anya, finding just about any way to ensure Anya feels loved and cared for, even when she feels pressured to improve her performance at Eden Academy. Anya seems to feel incredibly comfortable around Yor and has a lot of fun with her. Yor is also an emotional character who wears her heart on her sleeve, which allows Anya to feel comfortable about expressing her own emotions, as well. Yor makes her feel like it is okay to be upset or worried, as they are normal human emotions. Yor also seems to have a natural ability to take care of children, and quickly bonds with Anya, finding it easy to relate to her and spend time with her.

Yor has a few weaknesses, as well. As she is a new mother alongside Loid, she has practically no experience, except having to care for her younger brother when they were kids. Because of this, there are a lot of parenting norms that she isn't yet aware of, and she is still learning on the spot. She is also often insecure about not only her assassin occupation, but her friendships, her relationship with Loid, as well as her parenting. Because she often has issues with not feeling like she is good enough, this causes her to shut down as a parent to Anya, which might make Anya feel anxious that Yor might leave her behind. Though Yor doesn't mean to make Anya feel this way, she can often be distracted by her own emotions and forget about how Anya feels.

The Forgers are a lovable family ironically built on deception and secrets. Regardless, they have managed to form cherishable bonds with each other.

Who Is The Better Parent?

Who Supports Anya Better?

Loid and Yor Forger Spy x Family

While both Yor and Loid have their own important roles in Anya's life, the two of them perform their parenting duties very differently. Loid seems to have taken on the role of the distant, disciplinary fathe r, though he still shows his care and love towards Anya. As for Yor, she aims to give Anya a loving and compassionate environment, and wants to ensure that Anya feels comfortable and at home.

I know that this family is just for appearances. But... I still feel like... I want to be a better mother to that girl... Maybe I'll never be like a normal mother, but I'll do my best with what I've got! — Yor Forger

Though they are both great parents to Anya, Yor has the slight edge over Loid due to the fact that she focuses on Anya having a comfortable and happy life, rather than the mission at hand. Though Loid has improved over time, he still has a duty to focus on Operation Strix, which can often lead to him putting his care for Anya to the side. Either way, both Loid and Yor still give Anya a loving environment and make her feel like they are truly a family.
