There are a total of eight chapters in Split Fiction, but not all levels contain Side Stories. In Split Fiction, Side Stories whisk players to self-contained levels taken from Mio and Zoe's old stories. Mountain Hike, for example, is based on a story Zoe wrote as a child after hiking with her family, while Slopes of War is a story Mio wrote based on a non-specified series of extreme snowboarding video games she loves.

The Legend of the Sandfish
Associated Level: Neon Revenge

To find the The Legend of the Sandfish Side Story location, Split Fiction players must get through the beginning of the Neon Revenge level. After you complete the highway chase sequence, a short cutscene will play to introduce the Side Story feature.

Farmlife
Associated Level: Neon Revenge
Of all Split Fiction Side Stories, Farmlife might be its most whimsical – but in true Hazelight fashion, there's always something sinister going on in the background. In this Split Fiction side story, Mio and Zoe become magical pigs with the ability to fart rainbows and the ability to stretch upwards like a slinky.
To find the Farmlife Side Story location, Split Fiction players must defeat Mr. Hammer in Neon Revenge, then follow the main path forward until the end of the chase sequence. After a short cutscene plays, Mio and Zoe will notice the portal on the other side of a short barrier.

Mountain Hike
Associated Level: Neon Revenge
Mountain Hike is one of the most visually spectacular, and utterly bizarre, Split Fiction side stories – and that's a pretty high bar to clear. This side story takes Mio and Zoe to a scenic mountaintop where comically enormous Giants carry players from location to location.
Split Fiction: Neon Revenge Walkthrough

Train Heist
Associated Level: Hopes of Spring
This Side Story, the first of three Split Fiction Side Stories that can be found in the Hopes of Spring level, lets Mio and Zoe take control of several different vehicles as they pursue a train. One of Mio's stories, this sci-fi romp is a straightforward action mission with wingsuits, water skis, and an empowered ship to take on The Conductor boss at the end.
To find the Train Heist Side Story location, Split Fiction players must reach the part of Hopes of Spring when Mio must drag Zoe through the water while she's holding onto a floating tree trunk. The characters will point out the portal when you get close. Both characters must then wallrun and grapple across a pond to reach the ledge and enter the Side Story.

Gameshow
Associated Level: Hopes of Spring
The Gameshow side story requires players to communicate with each other as they attempt to make it through increasingly difficult challenges in a dystopian, futuristic arena. To succeed, Mio and Zoe must pass a bomb that will explode if held for too long as the platforming and communication required becomes more intense.
To find the Gameshow Side Story location, Split Fiction players must look for the portal after the sidescrolling section when Zoe gains control over the environment while Mio nagivates in monkey and fish form. After the two are reunited, look for an eyecatching sci-fi building to the left of the main path. The characters should comment on its location when close.

Kites
Associated Level: Final Dawn
The Kites Side Story is a simple side story, but a beautiful one. In this story of Zoe's creation, players race through a gorgeous environment filled with kites, cannons, and floating speed boost rings – it's not entirely unlike one of the original Spyro the Dragon flying challenges.
To find the Kites Side Story location, Split Fiction players must get the Shield Buster, then make it to the point of the Final Dawn level with a long, toxin-filled tube. The Side Story can be found at the very end of this tube – you should be able to see a glowing aura from a long distance away.
Moon Market
Associated Level: Final Dawn
The Moon Market is another one of Zoe's stories that can be found within the Final Dawn level. This one whisks Mio and Zoe to a mystical market with all kinds of interactable objects, like a cauldron with different potions. Your goal here is to find three cat spirits and return them to the gate to open it.
To find the Moon Market Side Story location, Split Fiction players must defeat the Factory Warden, then progress through the level until a crane section. Mio and Zoe must shoot their respective color symbols to open a door, then look for the portal shimmer on a ledge above a short platforming section that opens up.

Notebook
Associated Level: Final Dawn
Notebook is one of the most stylistic Side Stories in Split Fiction as the game swaps from a 3D environment to a 2D, pencil-and-paper art style. In this level, Mio and Zoe explore one of Zoe's discarded drafts represented by sketches on a notepad.
Split Fiction: Isolation Walkthrough
Isolation chapter in Split Fiction takes players into Mio’s subconscious; the duo must discover the secret prisoner that has been calling them.
To find the Notebook Side Story location, Split Fiction players must get to the point in Final Dawn when you get the jetpack. To the left of the gigantic spinning wheel of doom on one of the pipes leading upward, you will see this Side Story on a floating, separate ledge. Use your jetpack to make it over here and avoid the spike wheel.

Slopes of War
Associated Level: Rise of the Dragon Realm
In this stunt-filled Split Fiction Side Story, Mio and Zoe take to the slopes as they race down a mountain. Perhaps an homage to the SSX series of snowboarding video games, Slopes of War lets players perform tricks to gain points as they race to the finish to. Whoever gets the most points wins!
To find the Slopes of War Side Story location, Split Fiction players must reach the part of Rise of the Dragon Realm just before the rock-skipping pool, and just after you hatch your eggs. Look to the left of the golden balls you platform across to get to the stone skipping area to see another lever puzzle that leads to this portal.
Space Escape
Associated Level: Rise of the Dragon Realm
In the Space Escape Side Story, Split Fiction players are taken to a doomed space station, tasked to escape through the vacuum of space. This level features zero-g platforming, momentum-based movement, and several puzzles you will have to complete to keep your oxygen levels up.
To find the Space Escape Side Story location, Split Fiction players must defeat the Dragon Slayer boss, then progress forward along the path until you see the SIde Story to the right. You must carefully time Mio's glide and Zoe's rolling attack to launch Mio up to the top and drop a column that Zoe can climb up to get to this portal.

Birthday Cake
Associated Level: Rise of the Dragon Realm
Of all Split Fiction Side Stories, Birthday Cake might be its most bizarre. This final Side Story turns Mio and Zoe into cute googly-eyed teeth as they adventure through a story from Mio's childhood. The world is filled with candy, whimsical characters, colorful scenery, and of course, a giant birthday cake.
After you light the cake candles, though, the vibe shifts dramatically as a nightmarish (and hilarious) boss appears – there's a reason Mio and Zoe become teeth in this level.
To find the Birthday Cake Side Story location, Split Fiction players must complete the Dragon Souls puzzle, which requires four souls to be returned to an enormous statue in the middle of a giant cave. Immediately after finishing this puzzle, and after a short cutscene, look for a floating gummy bear to the left of the main path to reach this portal.
