Splatoon 3 fans are in for a treat, as the Halloween Splatfest Splatoween is making a comeback and bringing some free rewards with it. While brand-new Splatfests and rich content updates have come to an end for Splatoon 3, the title will see the return of some Splatfests that were run previously in the series.
Splatoon 3 recently saw the end of the Grand Festival, where Team Past brought home the prize. Like prior final Splatfests, this will likely play a role in a future Splatoon game, but no official announcements have been made regarding the existence of a Splatoon 4, nor any potential themes it might follow.
Now, Splatoon 3 is celebrating Halloween with a Splatfest, including some free cosmetic goodies that players can pick up. The Splatoween theme will be "What would you be in a fantasy world?" With a choice between Team Wizard, Knight, and Ninja. Players can pick up a free set of headwear, including the Kyonshi Hat, Li'l Devil Horns, Hockey Mask, and Anglerfish Mask, which were originally available exclusively in Splatoon 2 for its Halloween Splatfest. To collect this gear, players just need to check the news feed on their Switch, find the Splatoon 3 news bulletin announcing the gear, and start up the game through the button at the end of the page.
Is Splatoon 3's Second Halloween Splatfest a Rerun?
Some players might not recognize the theme coming back for this Splatfest, and that's because it's not from Splatoon 3. The event is actually a retooling of the Splatoon 2 Halloween Splatfest, which pitted Wizards and Knights against each other. In the original version of this Splatfest, Wizards took home the crown. By resurrecting a Splatoon 2 Splatfest, the event will be new to some players, and the addition of a third team adds a refreshing twist even for those familiar with the original.
In addition to refreshing the theme of the Splatfest, players will also be able to go and visit Inkopolis Square for the first time during a Splatoon 3 Halloween Splatfest. Previously, only Splatsville and Inkopolis Plaza were available to travel to during the Halloween Splatfest. This time around, players can visit Pearl and Marina performing in their own special outfits to celebrate the occasion. To do this, players will need to pick up Splatoon 3's expansion pass and clear the Side Order DLC. Once complete, simply go to a train station and select the Splatoon 2 hub to visit.
