An official Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse digital release may have recently been revealed. When it will be available for streaming uconfirmed, but there is a reasonable estimate.Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is a huge box office and critical success. Released theatrically on June 2nd to an opening weekend global box office of $208.6 million, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse currently has the summer's best opening. The film has grossed over $663.5 million worldwide and still brings in millions of dollars each day. Additionally, audiences and critics have widely praised it as one of the year's best films. Earlier, Amazon revealed that the possible digital release date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was August 8th. Since then, it has been changed to say, “Get this movie as soon as it becomes available.” There may have been a miscommunication between Sony and Amazon, and the digital release date may change. It could also be that Sony didn’t want to announce the release date while the film is still doing well in theaters.
Previously, when Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was released digitally, it was after it had been in theaters for 74 days. If its sequel were to get released digitally on August 8th, it would be 67 days after the film was released in theaters. Although one week does not make much of a difference, the sequel is performing much better at the box office than its predecessor. While still a box office success, Into the Spider-Verse only made $375 million worldwide during its original release. Comparatively, Across the Spider-Verse has been in theaters for 46 days and has made $663 million.
Fans will have to keep an eye out to see if Sony announces an official release date soon. For fans waiting for the film to hit streaming, Sony inked a deal with Netflix, which took effect in 2022, to release their films on Netflix after a certain amount of time. Previous films a part of this deal, A Man Called Otto and 65, were both released 120 days after their theatrical release; this would make the expected date for Across the Spider-Vers e to stream on Netflix September 30th. After 18 months on Netflix, the film will likely debut on Disney Plus.
