Spider-Man fans won't want to miss out as September 2025 is going to be a thrilling month thanks to this latest announcement.
The beloved character was introduced in the 1962 comic book Amazing Fantasy, and while people got to see Peter Parker in the CBS 1977 made-for-TV movie Spider-Man, it was the 2002 film starring Tobey Macguire that got the most attention. Several sequels followed, and a few actors have taken on the iconic role. The most recent movie, 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, was a huge hit, and fans anticipate the 2026 release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Until then, there's something special coming in the fall.

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man Trilogy Will Be In Theaters Again In September 2025
Variety reported that Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy will be re-released in theaters in September 2025. Spider-Man will be screened on September 26th, 2025, and Spider-Man 2.1 will be screened on September 27th, 2025. Then, the third movie will be screened on September 28th, 2025. If fans miss out the first time, they can watch all three movies on October 3rd, October 4th, and October 5th. Sony Pictures and Fathom Entertainment are working on the screenings together. The screenings are part of Fathom Fan Favorites which have included theatrical screenings of The Sound of Music, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Clueless, Rocky VI, Sunset Boulevard, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Since it's been several decades since fans saw Maguire's portrayal of the superhero in Raimi's trilogy, it'll be a fun and nostalgic experience.
This would be exciting enough, but there's also some great news: audiences will get to see a 4K version of Spider-Man called Spider-Man 2.1 that has scenes fans haven't seen before and is an extended cut.
The superhero has a long history in Hollywood, and fans have a lot of thoughts about the way the character has been portrayed. After Macguire played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the 2002 film, a sequel followed in 2004, and Spider-Man 3 was released in 2007. Kirsten Dunst played his love interest Mary Jane Watson and Willem Dafoe played evil scientist Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin. Rosemary Harris and Cliff Robertson rounded out the cast as Peter's charming aunt and uncle. While Spider-Man 4 was in the works, it didn't end up happening. Two other notable actors have taken on the role since. Andrew Garfield starred in 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man and 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Then, another big shift happened for the franchise. Tom Holland put on the Spidey suit for 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, along with 2019's Far from Home and 2021's No Way Home. Holland will reprise the role in the upcoming Brand New Day, which will also star Zendaya, Sadie Sink, and Jon Bernthal as Punisher.
Although Raimi is known for his trilogy, he's also a celebrated horror director known for the underrated supernatural film Drag Me to Hell and the beloved Evil Dead franchise. In a 2022 interview with Rolling Stone, he shared that it was tough to read the negative reviews from audiences and critics when Spider-Man 3 was released. The director said:
"It was a very painful experience for me. I wanted to make a Spider-Man movie to redeem myself for that. [The aborted] Spider-Man 4 — that was really what that was about. I wanted to go out on a high note. I didn’t want to just make another one that pretty much worked. I had a really high standard in my mind. And I didn’t think I could get that script to the level that I was hoping for by that start date."
Fans can buy tickets for the Spider-Man trilogy re-release on July 25th, 2025.
