Marvel Studios has done a great job of developing the Spider-Man universe with the first three movies, providing plenty of entertaining supporting characters to flesh out the world focused on Tom Holland's titular character. Audiences have enjoyed seeing those characters develop, but now the actors themselves are ready for a little more.
There has been no shortage of rumors about who various characters from the Spider-Man movies could go on to be one day. While there's a lot of focus on who Sadie Sink will be playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day right now, an established cast member has their eyes on taking on a slightly different role moving forward.
'It Would Have To Be Very Weird' Andrew Garfield Reveals What It Would Take To Return As Spider-Man
Andrew Garfield has opened up about what it would take for him to play Spider-Man one more time.
Tony Revolori has been involved in all three of the Spider-Man movies since his debut appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming as Flash Thompson. It's unknown whether or not he's going to be part of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but if he is involved in the project, he would like to take on a slightly different role this time around. Revolori was asked by The Direct about the possibility of him playing Agent Venom, to which he said:
"Yeah, you know, look, I've read the comics that everyone's read. I would be really, really f-ing excited to do something like that. That would be really cool. I have no idea what, if, when, or maybe, and we'll see. Look, the hope is to do it; the dream is to do it. And we'll see if it ever happens. And if it doesn't, they're making great shit regardless that I will watch over and over and over again, and I'm just happy to have been a part of it."
Agent Venom is a unique take on the Venom symbiote that is more of a superhero than the traditional villain that audiences see. Venom is often pushed as one of Spider-Man's most iconic villains, but Agent Venom is the hero version of an older, post-college Thompson, which is why many people have always speculated about him taking on this role. In the comics, Thompson controls the Venom Symbiote to stop it from overtaking him, allowing the character to fight alongside Spider-Man rather than against him.
It was recently revealed that Tom Hardy almost brought his version of Venom from the Sony movies into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Things came close to happening and were even slightly teased within the films, but it ultimately didn't materialize. However, the possibility of Venom being brought into the Spider-Man universe within Marvel is a positive sign for Agent Venom being pushed into a future movie, as it's obviously an idea that Marvel Studios wants to explore at some stage. Given how popular Venom is generally, it would be a wise move to bring him in, and using Revolori is a perfect choice, given he's already well-established within the franchise.
This Agent Venom character is certainly one that fans would like to see, although it would likely mean that a villainous version of the character wouldn't happen, as having both might end up being overly complicated. The fact that Marvel started morphing Thompson from being a school bully to someone who likes Peter Parker was an interesting change, though, almost as if it was setting up for this to occur eventually. Ultimately, Spider-Man: Brand New Day might be too soon for Agent Venom due to the age of all of the characters. However, the fact that Revolori is actively open and excited about taking on the role is a positive sign if it does happen in a future Spider-Man movie.
