The Tablet of Order and Chaos has been shattered. Now, Spider-Man must recover all four pieces of the tablet, so that order can be restored to reality. And so begins Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.
Shattered Dimensions' story, written by Dan Slott of The Amazing Spider-Man comic, features four parallel realities, each with their own unique version of Spider-Man. Two of those realities are revealed in the debut trailer. The Amazing Reality is home to your good ol' friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. The Noir Reality, based on a four-issue miniseries from 2009, is a fantastically art-directed re-imagining of Spider-Man as a depression era crime fighter. Check out the Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions debut trailer.
Two realities revealed, two still unknown. Developer Beenox has imbued each disparate Spider-Man with some unique powers, and unique gameplay to match. Amazing Spider-Man has his iconic move set, and his reality sports the kind of web-slinging bad guy-fighting action that has been honed over the course of the Spider-Man games. Noir Spider-Man uses his mystic-spider powers for a more stealth-focused experience. (It's a little hard not to think of Batman: Arkham Asylum when watching the Noir portion of the video, isn't it?)
With just two realities announced, speculation turns to those that remain. What will they be? Ultimate Spider-Man? Giant Robot Spider-Man? What other Spider Realities would you like to see?
Spider-Man: Shattered Dimension swings onto the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii this fall.
