Is There New Game Plus in Spiderman 2?

New Game Plus is a fan-favorite feature for video games. Most of the time, New Game Plus will become unlocked after players complete the main story, allowing them to replay the game but with all their special powers and skills unlocked. The first two Spider-Man games from Insomniac have New Game Plus modes, but what about Spider-Man 2?

Is There New Game Plus in Spider-Man 2?

Unfortunately, Insomniac Games has decided to leave out New Game Plus for Spider-Man 2. It's been confirmed that the feature is being worked on, but for now, players will have no way to start a new game with all of their powers and suits unlocked. However, players will unlock a harder difficulty mode called Ultimate after beating the story. This mode is for "expert players who enjoy a brutally difficult experience." All enemies will be more aggressive, deal more damage, and have more health.

Was There New Game Plus in Spider-Man 1 and Miles Morales?

For the first of Insomniac's Spider-Man game, New Game Plus was actually not available in the game at launch. A patch from the dev team introduced the new feature about a month after the game came out, also bringing in the new, higher difficulty mode: Ultimate.

The 2020 follow-up, Miles Morales, also had a New Game Plus mode, but it wasn't introduced in a patch --it was available in the game at launch once players completed the main story, which was only a few hours long. There are also some trophies attached to completing New Game Plus for the first two Spider-Man games, but this third entry surprisingly doesn't have any --there are also none related to completing the game on a certain difficulty mode.

And it's also worth noting that there's no way to replay main missions in Spider-Man 2. Players need to either load an older manual save file or start a new game from scratch to reexperience pivotal story moments and insane setpieces. A Mission Replay feature is also being worked on by the development team.
