One gamer made an unexpected discovery while going to play their Xbox Series X: a spider had gotten inside the console and decided to make a web. While this is not the first time a critter has found its way inside gaming hardware, this spider's residence in an Xbox Series X is undoubtedly intriguing.

While it might be hard to believe, the Xbox Series X has been out for over two years. Boasting hardware that can compete with many high-end gaming PCs, the system can run many games at high frame rates and high resolutions. These impressive specs have made the Xbox Series X very popular for Microsoft, with stock often hard to find even months after its launch. Interestingly, it appears that the black rectangular design of the system is attracting more than just gamers. It seems arachnids like it as well.

Taking to Reddit, a user known as SteadySmaxkin decided to tell their story of a recent encounter with an arachnid. Specifically, the Reddit user revealed that they had discovered a spider inside their Xbox Series X console. While the spider was not clearly visible in the image shared by the gamer, the elaborate web it created was. Interestingly, the picture revealed that the inside design of the Xbox Series X was quite open, which would explain how a spider managed to get inside. In addition, the ventilation holes were likely how the creature accessed the system's interior. It is worth noting that the gamer did not mention what spider had made the web inside of the console.

Unsurprisingly, many gamers on the Xbox Series X subreddit were surprised to see that a spider had made a home inside the next-gen machine. The post has already gained several hundred upvotes, and many have not been able to resist making bug-themed jokes about the incident. “Make a bug report to microsoft,” one user quipped. In addition, some jokingly suggested playing a graphically intensive game like Cyberpunk 2077 to overheat the console and get rid of the unwanted guest. Meanwhile, another gamer recommended using a can of compressed air to blow away the web and other debris found in the Xbox Series X.

While this spider inside an Xbox Series X caught the attention of numerous Xbox gamers on Reddit, this is not the only story of a creature infiltrating a piece of gaming equipment. A while back, one person reported that a fly had gotten stuck in their Xbox One’s power button. With many more gamers likely to buy the Xbox Series X over the holiday season, it will be interesting to see what other insect and arachnid stories fans have to tell in the weeks ahead.
